  1. Are you actually interested in testing for bugs, or are you merely hoping to gain experience with the new features? Because I think too many people treat beta tests as "early practice".

I do agree with you on this. I'm sure many of us have seen this over and over. The point of the thread was simple. Are the going to continue to give invites or have they sent out all they intend to?

  2. Eric, Will there be more beta invites sent out over the next couple weeks? I know many would like to see how it is shaping up, and i know my Guild and i would love to do some serious testing on the PvP aspect most of all. Just curious if it is still open or are the invites closed?
  3. To sit here and say you are getting nerf is foolish. It maybe a nerf when compared to current classes. However, you have no idea what all the other classes are going to look like so you can't say your nerf for 3.0. So be careful when you assume cause we all know what they say about that.

So before you start or continue to cry the sky is falling lets see what the other classes are and the end result looks like. In a lot of people opinion sorc is a bit much as is now.

  4. I do worry about changes like this because history has shown it leads to a dumb down version of the game. I will try to be optimistic that we will see a better product. I truly hope they use these changes to address the short CC cool downs and the resolve system that has plagued this game for far to long. Maybe even remove some of the CC's.
  5. The thing i really would like to know about is are they happy with the resolve system, the short cooldowns on all the stuns, and the friggin overlapping stuns. I have seen and heard more complaints about stuns than anything else and has been ongoing for way to long with no answers, explination or anything that resembles giving to @#$%.
  6. Eric,

I think is about time the PvP dev team stop hiding and hold some type of stream or discussion about the state of PvP. We have gone way to long without major concerns being addressed and being total ignored. This is bordering on incompetent.

The biggest concerns I have seen on the forums and in WZ are the CC’s but I would not limit it to that alone. How about not hiding but confronting the people who pay and play this game and explain what your case for the most pressing issues in PvP. Basically do your job.

  7. I really don’t have an issue with the amount of stuns, the snares, or roots. It is the short CD’s, roots not respecting resolve, and the overlapping stuns I have a problem with. How can you justify 1 stun break on a 1.5-2 min CD with the amount of CC we have? I would like to see the follow:

    1) Overlapping stuns removed (you use a stun on someone already stunned too bad it is on CD)

    2) Roots respect resolves immunity (but does not add to resolve either.

    3) Resolve immunity increased by 4 sec

    4) CC abilities CD times increased

I would also love to see a Q&A PvP stream happen.

  8. I will tell you what Alex the reward i would like the most is a PvP team that actually PvP's. There is absolutely no way that the PvP dev team are serious PvP'ers. Their lack of explanation to issues that have been posted for more than a year with no responses, lack of info, lack of direction, and lack of any thought what so ever to PvP rewards makes it perfectly clear. The team is either A) incompetent or B) they don't care.

I know may people getting weary of being ignored by everyone in this company. Maybe it extremely long over due to do a stream by the dev team and answer some legit long over due questions, their vision for PvP, and field questions from PvP'ers instead of being ignored all the time

  9. So if we que and we are together it is within the game mechanic so be it. If we QUE and we face each other( which happens) so be it. If we face other premades (which happens) so be it. Do not sit there and say

" <Maven> superqueues and that's all they prefer to do." You are assuming and you know what they say about assume right. Never act like you know exactly what someone is doing or thinking.

Rage Quitting. Yes i have quit a few matches ( not very many) and i apologies for that. However, i would rather quit a match then say anything negative out of anger. For the most part i am patient but like all of us there are times i get mad. So i would rather leave then be a jerk by saying something inappropriate.

The thing that really gets me is the so called trash talking. Never once in any group i have been in did we trash talk. We end every game with a GG or dam good game all. However, if you sit and trash talk someone you may get it back from time to time. I hardly ever trash talk anyone i am content with smashing you into the ground so you get your panties in a bunch which seems like happened here.

  10. I recently transferred to TEH and i have to say i am enjoying it very much. Overall i think the server has real nice people, not nearly as toxic as other server populations, and the PUB side PvP isn't that bad at all if you are grouped with some good people. Overall i would recommend this server.
  11. I might have missed something, but isnt that what PvP is about? And anybody can do this? The whole enemy team didnt even manage a single 360k medal...

since they guy i quoted was talking about PvP in general and the fact, that ranked is basically dead...yeah, I guess regs are a good enough example.

From what i read is you think damage numbers are what WZ are about and they are not. Yes you need DPS and you also need heals. However, what you really need is to do the dam objectives. Damage number in huttball in particular mean squat. It is about controlling the WZ. IE. it is better to knock 2-4 players into the pit to keep them off your ball carrier than it is to kill them because they spawn where he is trying to go.

Damage number seekers are the biggest reason for the large amount of bad players in this game.

  12. I don't think resolve should work for snares. Some classes depend on slows and roots for survival as a defensive tool. Making resolve work for those skills will gimp classes like snipers, merc, and sorcs who kite. Hard stuns are offensive in nature and need to be controlled with resolve and CC break.

I understand what you are saying. However, the way it is now it really gimps the hell out of melee and the seems to be more effected by it ignoring the immunity. Snare i can see the argument but not for root because it is still a controlling effect.

  13. You have a breaker, you can get stunned twice before you have full resolve...

    The system is fine atm...

If you truly think the system is fine either A) you play a range class or B) you are new to PvP in an MMO. This resolve system has driven so many people that i know away from this game it is incredible.

    1) When you have as many CC's in the game on ridiculously short CD and 1 break that works once every 1.5-2 min that is not fine

    2) When your resolve immunity consistently ticks away in the cloner that is not fine .

    3) When snares and roots do not respect the resolve immunity that is not fine.

    4) When you have overlapping stuns as a crutch for people that are not very good that is not fine.

There are many issues with resolve in its current state. It is not unfix-able but the 1st step is admitting there is a problem. BIOware did that a couple months after 1.4 which implemented the over lapping stun but has ignored it since the outcry against reducing the CC break CD.

    A) Remove over lapping stuns this game does not need another crutch has to many already.

    B) Make roots and snares respect the immunity BUT DOES NOT add to resolve at all.

    C) Increase the CC CD by a small amount to ensure tactical use of CC's which is their purpose.

I would like to see CC immunity while in a cloner frozen until re-spawned but i think that might be beyond their capabilities.

Look at the threads from the past and talk to many of the people who have left the game over PvP. Lack of PvP content and resolve are the two biggest reasons everyone i know left. Yes there indeed is an issue. However, it will continue to be ignored by the DEV's because it only effects PvP which is of very little importance in this game.

  14. Hi all,

Just transferred to EH from a PvP server. I am looking to expand my gaming by trying out aspects of gaming I have not tried before. I am looking for a guild that would be a good fit for me. Have never RP’d before but would like to give that a try and I have very limited experience in PvE in TOR. So what I am looking for is a Guild that: is Republic, does or attends RP events, PvP’s, does some PVE.

If any of you could point me in a direction or two I would appreciate it

  15. I guess in my experience a good MMORPG starts when you hit max level and in TOR it isn't long before you are sitting around say what now. I hope that the new expansion with the houses and guild ships and planetary control is really good, but if they do not roll out a new dungeon with 2-3 month they may be some issues.

I really don't blame the dev's i blame the upper management. IMO they do not support the Dev's with the resources they need. It seems the staff is so small and split into two areas 1) Cartel Market 2) everything else which mean content and issues like X-server is extremely slow or just pushed aside.

I will say the new team has done a much better job but their communication with certain play styles/ areas sucks as bad as ever.

  16. Let me start this by saying I very much like SWTOR. IMO it has the best leveling system of any MMO I have played and that is because of the class stories and cut scenes. I like the basic mechanics of the game but we all know there are major issues with this game and the biggest issue of all is management IMO

    .

Early on in this game we have seen mismanagement as an issue with TOR. We have seen legacy be the major priority when we had some big class balance issues, Illum issues, PvP issues, and lack of content issues. We have seen major parts of this game ignored for things like the GSF which turned out to not to be a major aspect of the game. If you look at MMO’s that have had ground and air/space sims in the same game the air/space has never been a big part for the majority of the community, and the single biggest thing that could be done to help this game thrive has be shot down by management over and over. I speak of cross server.

Cross server for rated arenas, warzones, instances, and SM raids would be huge and it would help facilitate future content of all aspects. I understand X-server can hurt aspects of community but you have to have a community to hurt and right now no server has a strong enough community for all aspects of the game and that drives people to other games which hurt overall growth and the bottom line. Sometimes you need to invest to grow you product and its market and that has not been done with this game since it has launched. Instead all that has been done is denying there is an issue and burying your head in the sand. An example is resolve.

The mechanic for resolve isn’t bad. However, the fact that your resolve bar drains in the cloner, that we have overlapping stuns, that roots and snares do not respect resolve immunity, that some class have 2 min CC break while other have 1:30 CC break or 2 breaks, and the WZ designs that allow/encourage 3 v 1 or 4 v1 to me is the issue. We heard “ya resolve isn’t working like we want it too” months and months ago but nothing since no change no discussion just deaf ears.

The slow pace that instances are rolled out and most seem to have no impact on or place in a Star Wars game. I mean why is Repub not hitting the sith academy, the sith hitting the temple on tython, storming a star destroyer, searching for control of ancient datacrons in old dilapidated temples. I mean come on if you’re a star wars fan you can think of so much better than what we have received. In a time of war I feel like there is no war going on. Illum it was a failure and promised to be fix and guess what didn’t happen. Why can't we make Illum an outdoor battleground?

Unlike traditional Battlegrounds, Illum an active ‘outdoor’ (non-instanced) and zone reachable.Traversing the hazards of Illum’s unforgiving landscape is merely the first challenge; maintaining control of the prison and bases will require your faction’s vigilance! Every two and a half hours, a new battle is waged to test the dominance of the controlling force. To retain dominion of Illum, defenders must prevent the enemy from capturing the three bases during the time limit (fifteen minutes).Whichever faction controls Illum at the battle’s end gains access to a hub of quests in the center of the zone and entry to the planets catacobms.

If this sounds familiar it should. It is the concept of Tol Barad nothing new but something that will give us a sense of war and a sense OW PvP we have been missing.

This game has so much potential but begs the same question gamers have had for large scale gaming companies for years. Why won’t you give the players what they are looking for? Your forced ideas have fallen short for a very long time. Now it is indie companies we are looking to like the re-population for the truly next gen game because large gaming companies who are looking for the next wow refuse to listen and just end up losing money to the old pro.

This is my opinion but i truly feel something has got to give and soon.

  17. Once again this is an RP server, if you want to pvp all day everyday then go to a pvp server. If you are a good pvper and you just want to farm baddies then get a magnifying glass go outside and burn ants, it is the same thing. Of course it also uncovers a dramatic flaw to your socially awkward personal character in both cases.

If you like PVP and enjoy competition I would go to a PVP server. Most player who only PVP here do so because they can't take losing.

I just came from a PvP server and there are a few reasons why I left. The biggest is the extremely polarizing personalities on the server, and the constant elitist attitude from the majority of PvP’ers on the server which most straight suck. Sad thing is most of them have no idea they aren’t very good, and they are not open to any suggestion or help what so ever. There is an ever growing group of people that go out of their way to hurt you rating and as much of your gaming enjoyment as they can and I’m just tired of them kind of people.

The other reason I left is I feel I have ignored a large part of the PvE aspect of the game by PvP’ing so much. I feel, and I may be wrong, that I will find better quality people who actually enjoy star wars and may just show me a part of gaming that I have never been a part of or participated in.

So I would disagree with your statement. If I wanted to farm baddies I would have just rolled imp on my old server with the rest of the people who despise a challenge and want everything that comes easy. The fact that I want more out of my gaming experience seems to indicate there is a bit more to me than just someone with flawed character traits.

  18. Yeah, Republic is generally awful. Because everyone turns tail and re-rolls imp. It makes playing my alt an interesting adventure.

Seems to be they way of the world now. Do whatever it takes for easy mode. If i come over, which i think i am, it will be Republic.

  19. I don't insult people. Usually.

You have to understand though, there is a breaking point. I'll admit that sometimes the guy who gets the vitriol isn't always the one that deserves it the most, he just happens to be the 100th lucky customer that day.

    QUOTE]

this is when U should take a break from PvP . . . or U just end up as a noncontributer your self ...

This is when you might consider quitting PvP entirely ...

Why? Listen this all comes from the everyone gets a trophy generation. If you suck you will never get better unless you know you suck. If enough people make a comment, and no they do not have to be mean comments, you will take the time to read, learn and improve. If you do take the time to listen and learn you deserve what you get period.

If someone makes a suggestion to me i will look into it learn from it. If i make a suggestion to the same person numerous times and he doesn't listen it shows me they do not care and they get what they deserve period.

  20. So i'm starting to play this game a lot more now that I quit WoW until xpac comes out later this year, and i'm noticing a lot and i mean a lot of elitists verbally abusing other players in BGs. Calling them **** like "you're bad ****" or "stop queing if your ****", "youre terrible" things like that. Now I would understand that type of behavior if this game was WoW because everyone knows the community is absolutely toxic there, but this is SWTOR folks.

I just wanna say if someone is doing bad in a BG or isnt contributing, instead of bashing them why dont you offer some constructive criticism. After all, everyone has to start somewhere. Not everyone is a PVP god and a lot of players just play for fun anyway. But I will offer a warning that if you are one of those type of players who is verbally abusive to others I will report your *** and get you banned. Dont wanna be a narc but we dont need that type of **** in SWTOR. If you wanna act like that, just leave back to WoW. That is all.

Have you ever tried giving advice to someone who is playing bad and they go off on you? Happens a fare amount in this game. Just want to clue you in that yes there are some @#$ elitist in WZ's but there are a lot of people with tiny heart syndrome that can't take any criticism or refuse to believe they are not very good.
