  1. Well this free transfer thing isn't affecting everyone as it appears.  My sub lapsed for a few hours in Feb and it downgraded to preferred status (only way I knew something was up) which obviously I rectified immediately as my auto renewal didn't work (card and $ wasn't the issue, still don't know what happened) but anywhos I sorted it.

Just checked and my account says I have free transfers if I want it and have already done a transfer of one toon to the new APAC server so can confirm it's definitely free for me.  Also to confirm have been subbed since Jan 1 and I honestly thought I would lose out with last months 'lapse' but doesn't appear so, and imo nor should it so am grateful!

  2. Mmmm haven't logged into this new update as yet.  Bit concerning re this new gear dropping that has no value etc and is just another thing to throw in the deconstruct box.  Reminds me of the pieces you get from the daily loot boxes (can't remember name) where you get companion gifts and those useless - in my opinion - arkanian or whatever they are called armour pieces that can't be deconstructed into scrap etc or be sold to a vendor.

If this new gear persists, I just won't pick up anything off the ground unless it's yellow so will switch off the auto loot thing.  Was nice to get several thousand crds this way (all adds up!) but my time is better spent not bothering due to the alternative and time to get rid of useless items.

  3. I recently completed this datacron and tbh it didn't take me that long once I knew where they spawned (8 locations only) - there is a good guide on youtube (I can't remember the name, am at work atm).  She was spot on with where they spawn and I literally just rode around through each spot and picked them up.  Albeit it did take couple of hours because there is no set spawn but it's a one off.  Once you pick one up it will spawn (randomly) at one of the other locations within a couple of minutes (and stays there I believe) and I just made haste to the other spots and just did a loop until I got them.

It is certainly more beneficial no one else is looking for them due to the randomness of it so would suggest a quiet time as far as server activity.

Personally, I’m safe with the free transfers because I’ve been subbed since before the server opened & I didn’t cancel mine in protest over the credit limits or the free transfer eligibility, like so many did before BS changed the 90 day requirement & subbed at server launch to the 2nd January.

I was in this bracket as well until for whatever reasons my crd card failed - I still don't know why the auto renewal didn't work and it certainly wasn't a $ issue on my end - however it is what it is, I was dropped down to preferred status and was initially puzzled as to how then realised my sub wasn't renewed which I rectified immediately with a manual payment and hope that auto renewal just starts working again /pray.

However does that mean as I wasn't subbed for a few hours I'm now in the well you weren't subbed from January!.....I had to laugh (and cry a little on the inside lol) as I think that's exactly the boat I now find myself in.  No free transfers for you!

  5. I think repair costs in general need to be lowered.....was quite shocked rolling my new toon on SV and at one point I repaired and it cost my toon 12k - I was like eeeeek I only have 100k in crds (at that point) lol.  I don't recall but i'm sure that toon didn't even die so was quite puzzled at this high cost.

  6. Hi all, as someone who has been watching this thread closely and reading all points I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in.  I've been playing this game since launch (maybe a few months here and there I didn't play over the last 10 or so years).

I rolled a new toon on SV given it's in my region (AUS/NZ) and thus far have reached legacy level 25 with around 3M in credits 'saved' - I deposit them into the legacy hold like a bank deposit watching it slowly build up lol.

Anyways I certainly have a full range of 80s with all perks/legacy 50 on my main server with yes a few billion credits to boot.  Would I like to have the option to transfer some or all of my toons?  Absolutely as I've certainly done the hard yards getting them to the point they are at and as someone else stated re augments there's no way in hell I'm grinding that out again on my new crafters that I have only just started.

My only concern is the sudden influx of credits and yes people taking full advantage of the fact a black and black dye is only 1.5m credits on the GTN (I had to look twice!) but is there anyway around this?  I don't believe so other than characters can't be trf'd back for a set period (60 days for eg).  I think given time the economy on SV will reach the same craziness on other servers with the cost of things.  I've even decided I'll probably go with blue augs when the time comes as I play solo anyways.

Will I stop playing on SV if I can't transfer my old toons......no way, am enjoying the experience of playing from scratch again and have even collected all the datacrons (both imp & repub) for the title.  Sure it was a little frustrating (omg the Makeb one) having to do them again but I'm a patient guy and I'll even build my $ slowly but surely.

So either way I'll just roll with it and carry on playing :)

  7. As an Eng sniper main I would agree we definitely need back the heal with roll, as at the moment if I get dotted I just have no counter other than my heal stim or just getting out of dodge quick as possible. I don't play ranked mind you (tried once - got focused by 2 ops=wrecked then was abused by my team etc so never went back, who needs that kind of stress in a video game? o.0

However thanks for the post and here's hoping we get some love!

  8. I fully agree with this.

Sorry OP, but while i have seen groups of people chaining self destruct, most of the numbers you show are not from feeders/throwers. Those would be all way past 10 deaths and would not even try to hit something; much less have assist or even a solo kill.

I remember the 1st time I played GSF and I thought I would love to just have an area where I can roam/test things and from memory I don't think the tutorial allowed this so had to enter matches really not knowing wth to do but also not even up to par with controls etc. Kind of like throwing some guy in a ship that's read a few pages of a book about flying then suddenly I'm in the Battle of Britain kind of scenario fighting for my life lol.

I think this is the case for most newbies to the game. Recent match there was one guy that I destroyed again and again, the poor sob was trying to fight me off ie wasn't afking or just flying in a loop - he just had no chance to practice/train other than getting wrecked in this match. I genuinely felt sorry for him and left him alone after 4 or 5 times.

  9. One thing they can do immediately is assign BoL on all companion gifts. Purple level sells from the vendor for 10k. Legendary sells for 250k. I see these being sold at 12k plus for stacks of 100 or more. These aren't being farmed. These are being bought and resold at higher prices, especially the legendary gifts.

If someone wants to level up their companions to 50, they can spend 5mil on 500 purples and do so in a few minutes. Or they can buy the companion booster from the GTN or the CM. BoL for gifts would immediately end the price gouging for gifts. I'm willing to bet that a great many newer players don't know about buying those gifts from vendors and go to the GTN where they spend 20% to 50% more depending on the gift.

I've also seen the same thing happen with the Rak vaccine - a guild I was in temp (very temp) even had a running joke in GC about the 'fools' that would buy these off the GTN after they had listed them for 10k or more (they only cost 2k from a medical droid vendor). Despicable behaviour imo.

There are always the same listings too for the crafting materials that can be obtained from the fleet vendor but the same also goes those that try and trick the more wealthier players by trying to simulate their listing is only a few thousand (with a careful combo of numbers/sequence) which if clicked means they just paid 100m for something instead of a 1,000 for eg, so blatantly obvious what they are trying to do.

  10. I hope you weren't one of the obviously 'bored' players that harassed my guilds op group trying to take down Toxxun last night. We would engage and they would taunt him away from us or drag him onto our grp while we were still getting ready. Some people seriously need to get a life is all I can say and yes they were reported.

Just praying this kind of behaviour isn't a sign of the times with people who are bored with content or in their opinion lack of.

  11. I concur. I do not do OPS because of any perceived "risk". I don't do them because:

    1) I am an older adult with a plethora of real life responsibilities. Work, family, running a household, caring for aging parents/In-Laws, and the list goes on and on. I can't commit to however many hours per day raiding guilds require, usually several days a week.

    2) In my almost 20 years of MMO gaming (starting with Star Wars Galaxies back in 2003), I can count on ONE HAND the number of progression raiding guilds I have been in that lasted more than 6 months to a year, and that were FUN -- filled with fair, emotionally-stable adults who treated raiding as a game and not a job.

Invariably, one or two (or five) key role-filling players has something come up in real life and needs to leave the game. Then comes the tedious downtime searching for a replacement, but not just any replacement -- one that also fits personality-wise with the rest of the "team". Or raiding guilds that descend into cliques. And that doesn't even take into account the sheer number of raiding guilds I have been in that were SO unsuited to me personally because they were filled with toxic, 1337-SP34K, "get gud bruh" players.

As someone said above, it's frikkin exhausting just trying to find a raiding guild that you enjoy playing with!

So even though I don't have the time or open schedule that progression raiding guilds absolutely require, you know what I DO have? A big, fat wallet. And an outlook on gaming that says "Yeah, I understand that if you don't have the time to invest to get X-item, then you have to obtain it another way (by paying for it). And you know what? That's acceptable." (side note: I honestly have NO idea why people think providing an alternate path to obtain anything available in a game by paying for content is such a bad thing... That's how ALL life is: you either have the time but no money, or you have the money but no time)

The developers are shooting themself in the foot and cutting off their own nose just to spite their face if they lock *ANYTHING* behind gated content. They'll alienate WAY more people than they will cater to, and many of those alienated are folks with nice fat credit cards that will take their time (and money) elsewhere that allows them to play ON THEIR TERMS, not BioWare's.

Whoever is running this game really needs to study their customers... Of your subscriber base, how many progression raiders really add to your bottom line (aka SPEND MONEY) and how many casual/solo players do? You need to focus on doing whatever you can to keep the SPENDERS logged in and engaged, not just a vocal minority of "look at me" raiders who want to be the only people with some digital pixel.

All the above for me too....have plenty of $ but not a whole lot of time these days because of RL stuff. Having said that I can still put (on a good week) 15-20 hours in if all the stars align lol.

I am much more supportive these days for more solo content though (make it harder - we want the challenge). I'm in a great guild and I love the social aspect of it and the activities etc. As a long time gamer I'm not really seeing the (reasoning) behind group content being the do all or end all of online gaming. I love nothing more a lot of the time just chilling and playing solo stuff as and when I wish to.

As someone put in another post in this thread....its not 2005 anymore, time to 'evolve'

  12. They are already working on ME4 and DA4. Plus the leadership shakeups over the last few years due to the scandals havn't helped much.

But I agree with you, where is the business mindset of "make our players mad so they leave." compared to "make our players happy so they stay and either continue to pay money or have a higher chance of paying money." Wouldn't people go for the latter mindset? Yet so so SO many devs atm (different companies) seem to go for the former......:(

My 2cents quite a lot of designers/developers simply just won't let go of their creative dreams at the expense of everything else. Some decisions do seem rather strange (but make sense in their creative world). I akin them to being sometimes like tortured artists - their vision at all costs. Also as someone else stated I don't think they actually play their own game, or not very much anyways.

Another gear system overhaul.....change for the sake of change perhaps? That seems to be common in the world these days with some new guy up the chain probably wanting to make his/her mark or legacy so it's overhaul time (again). This is certainly prevalent in the corporate world.

  13. Actually that's a good point re the stealth thing and that (if) HS is still the goto to run/collect gear etc (or any FP I guess) there will be the probable group of people that get all sweaty because you are NOT a stealther in the grp. Of course will see how this goes but if it becomes some kind of rage zone I won't run any group content solo as in I'll just run with guildies to avoid the agro.
  14. My recent experience.....

Loaded into vet Hammer with 2 level 75 tanks and a level 65 (I'm a 75 sniper eng spec). I'm like cool I can go all out on the mobs when we engage.....nope. Both tanks weren't guarding weren't taunting (so of course I had the mobs/boss all over me with agro) and when I asked nicely in chat um can you guys at least guard or get the agro? Response was hey it's only Hammer chill you will be fine.

So I'm thinking ok I'll go one more boss (the Rifler gang) and again I've got the boss all over me which is ok I can manage. We get to the 2 turrets (re bridge crossing) and lo and behold I get agro from both turrets which is normally the case but neither tanks peel either off of me and at that point I just quit group. I was like yeah it's Hammer which everyone has done umpteenth times but can you like just still do your job tanks?

  15. It can happen. Other day we had some PVP fun in the CZ (daily area) as a guildie called for help in the PVP instance with a roaming pack of repubs ganking people. We arrived en masse and then they also got backup. Was fun for about an hour. Only problem (or challenge I guess) was the constant spawning of NPC's which kind of just get in the way.
  16. Again, I didn't say anything to you in that game, but I did assume you would be bad for the following reasons.

    1. I assume anyone that I don't recognize is bad, sometimes this assumption is wrong of course (alts I don't recognize, etc), but it's usually not

    2. If it's a sniper I don't recognize, it's nearly guaranteed that they're bad because of how difficult sniper is to play in ranked

    3. Established foothold is a good set bonus in ranked for experienced snipers only, and usually only against certain compositions. Get repositioning

    4. You had a weird engi tactical I think, don't remember what it was, but I'm pretty sure it's not the preferred pvp engi tactical.

    5. Full accuracy. Not bad strictly speaking, but most pvp snipers only use 105% accuracy. Seeing 110 accuracy, I assume it's a pve player that didn't bother to customize gear for pvp.

I didn't even look at valor. There are people with valor 90+ with 500 elo, and there are top 3 players that make new alts all the time. It's hard to make any assumptions from it.

No probs and I do take your point re the accuracy (and do know this so my bad). The tac I was using is Ruthless Interrogation (re ticks Inter Probe & Elec railgun does 75% more dmg)

  17. This part makes me curious. What set bonus are you wearing? I assume you are 306? I don't think you can get in the match unless 306. You have augs?

Yes full 306 with purple 286 augs - set I use is established foothold. I'm guessing they saw my valour was only 32 and immediately thought the worst.....hey I don't make the rules Bioware says I can que at 25. They should bracket the valour for ranked. I'm sure years ago you had to be valour 90 to even enter ranked?

  18. For your first 10 or maybe it’s 20 matches, the system is still trying to work out your ELO. So your first block of matches can be matches with the highest rated players. I think this is something that some ranked regulars forget. We all had to start somewhere and there is a massive gap between the skills required in regs and and ranked. There’s no stepping stone and only playing ranked and practicing will bridge that gap.

I’m sorry you had such a crap first experience. Don’t take it to heart if you can help it. As long as you are geared correctly and usually perform near the top of your reg matches, you are probably ready for the next step into ranked.

Try to listen to people who offer genuine advice and tactics in matches and blockout the numb nutts who bully everyone unless you are part of their social click.

If someone is ultra abusive like that guy who messaged you after, you can report them for harassment and abuse. Personally I put people on ignore if they are like that and you never have to hear from them again. Of course that’s a double edge sword if they are the ones dictating the tactics for the match because you can’t see what they say.

At the end of the day it’s a game. Play ranked if you want to and have done your best you can to prepare for it in regs and gearing. Ask questions of people who aren’t rude or abusive and you’ll find there are those willing to help.

    Thanks for the tips!

  19. the larger issue is that no one plays ranked, so the small number of players in the queue are not enough for you to establish a rating and then get matched with players closer to your ability.

this is a significant difference from WoW pvp in which both rated BGs and rated arenas have large enough populations that even average pve players can hop into rated BGs, get a rating and get their gear (which at least near the start of SL was the better gear to get). anyway, I'm not saying WoW = better. but the fact is that swtor rated pvp just doesn't have the population for casual players to hop into ranked w/o being constantly stomped or **** on.

Actually that's a good point and I agree there should be brackets within the ranked as clearly I was outmatched/outclassed. Afterwards I felt like I was just some infant who wandered into a fight with grown men lol. How am I supposed to learn? Well anyways I don't want any further part in it.

  20. So I'm at the level (valour wise) that I can que ranked. I know my class pretty well (Sniper Eng) and have done plenty of regs. My 1st match one of my team before we start puts in chat 'omg our sniper does he know cover' so I'm like mmmm ok this ain't good when we haven't even started yet.....but I stay on.

The other team has 2 ops that pretty much global me soon as we make contact. I guess it's just me but I stay alive as long as I can using everything but eventually I succumb. So 2nd round more in the chat about how I can tech frags via PVE bla bla bla. I'm like great so this is a fantastic start to my ranked opportunity. We lose the 2nd round and lose the match obviously. Same person then sends me multiple whispers about staying out of ranked as am bad etc etc. Guy came across as a complete bully (I told him as much).

My ranked story - which won't be progressing any further. I don't need that kind of bullying/aggro.

Sorry more of a rant but I wanted to share my experience and how I won't be bothering with it anymore.

  21. Well put and exactly my point. I noticed that none of his detractors were participating with testing, but they are the first to attack him when they have zero first hand understanding of situation.

You can bet these same people will be here complaining about the changes when it goes live, but none of them tested.

Unlike some of us who actually tested and try and get changes made. I bet none of them have a clue at the extremes in the systems that Bioware originally put on the pts.

Imagine the extreme pts 1 RNG and the out of balanced pts 3 went live. Which is the sort of thing Bioware would have probably done in the past.

If it wasn’t for the testers like Darev and yourself, these people would have ended up with an even worse situation that might be coming (fingers still crossed we’ve dodged a bullet).

To these detractors, when you’ve done as much testing to try and improve the game for “everyone”, then you can earn the right to give people a hard time that make threads like these.

As a day one player of this game (I played extensively the first 3-4 years) and have been an off and on player since I do thank you and the others who are in the PTS fighting for this game. God knows I certainly don't have the time or tbh inclination (being honest) but I can assure you myself and I'm sure others are watching/reading these forums with interest.

  22. I collect mats and sell them - not the knickel and dime stuff (200 crds per) but the level 10 stuff that goes for 2,000 + per. I'm running dailies and pick up heaps of mats and usually list them in 100 lots and always cheaper than what is on the GTN so they like sell and not sit for 3 days. Sold 800 mats yesterday and made almost 5m in a matter of 1 hour. Good thing for me is I'm just collecting as I do missions. Yavin has a lot of nodes for eg.

Also constantly buying cheap level 6 UW missions off the GTN (one that returns mando metal). Only ever send my lvl 50 companion who always returns with 4 pieces of purple metal and those go for 15-20k per. I certainly don't pay 100k for those missions - I'm patient and can pick up a couple at least every day for only 5-10k each.

Above is small stuff in the scheme of what people do to make money but I have 80m in the bank just from doing this over the last year or two and certainly don't want for anything and just recetly bought the mando backpack mount for 8m as I just wanted one and always have plenty of cash to do just that :)

  23. I just returned 2 days (ish) ago renewing my sub as well and I'm loving SWTOR again. Played for the first 4 years and then stopped playing for various reasons. Whoah there's a lot to take in again lol but it's good to be back.

Sorry it isn't happening for you OP but I'm having the opposite reaction! Maybe give it more than a couple of days :p

  24. My thoughts are at least it might actually spread people out across the universe ie get people off fleet and moving around the planets etc.

This could be the beginning of more interaction with our environment and not so much of the tunnel like path we seem to follow on planets. I'm looking forward to it, only issue is they seem to take a long time to implement these kinds of things but better late than never I guess.
