  1. This. All the people that have been trolling in here saying that "Slicing has been brought in line with the other gathering skills" are doing just that, trolling. I have Scavenging and do the exact same thing listed here and make money doing it. If you aren't making money off crafting then you are doing it wrong.
  2. Why Smugglers need slicing to be profitable: Luke: So. You got your reward and you're just leaving, then? Han Solo: That's right, yeah. Got some old debts I gotta pay off with this stuff. Even if I didn't, you don't think I'd be fool enough to stick around here, do you? Why don't you come with us? You're pretty good in a fight. We could use you. Luke: Come on. Why don't you take a look around. You know what's about to happen, what they're up against. They could use a good pilot like you, you're turning your back on them. Han Solo: What good is a reward if you ain't around to use it? Besides, attacking that battle station is not my idea of courage. It's more like, suicide. * ---------------- Princess Leia: It's not over yet. Han Solo: It is for *me*, sister. Look, I ain't in this for your revolution, and I'm not in it for you, Princess. I expect to be well paid. *I'm* in it for the money. ---------------- Luke: Well, more wealth than you can imagine!* Han Solo: I don't know, I can imagine quite a bit.*
  3. You sir, are wrong. In every sense of the word. I have gathering skills other than slicing and the mats they return, when not used by my crafting, are very profitable. Credits are the Mats of the Slicing profession. The risk of loss is too great now to warrant using that skill. If I spend 1000 credits on a Scavenging mission, I will use the mats for crafting. I see that as paying for the mats. If I spend 1000 on a Slicing mission and only get 800 in return. It's a waste of my time and money. Therefore, not going to do it. This means no Crafting missions on the GM, no schematics on the GM, and less buying of other peoples mats on the GM.
  4. And because I am not making money on my slicing missions I will not be spending money to buy those crafting missions from the GM. Which means that the few that people do manage to get will stagnant and be worthless. Until slicing gets fixed I am hording my credits for training. I used to buy lots of UW metals for Cyber. no more of that.
  5. I would love to see your fact sheet on your info. I am Cybertech/Scavenging/Slicing. I regularly run Scavenging missions to gain the materials I need for Cyber. I can send out a companion for Grade 1-6 levels of Metals, Compounds, Flux dependent on what I need. I pay money to gain these materials. If I don't use them all, I can then take those materials to the GM and sell them for profit. Slicing missions are for Lock Boxes and Augments. Read the threads, augments are pretty much crap right now. they take much longer to farm and aren't worth the credits/time spent. Lock Boxes return money. A Crit will net you a schematic or a crafting mission, but that's it. Right now the average 1000 cred mission will net you 800 credits in return with maybe a 1% chance to crit. The Lock Box missions were DESIGNED to make money by running a mission. If I know that I am only getting 800 credits after spending 1000 credits and 30 min of time, then why would I do that mission? for the 1% Crit chance? Vegas has better odds If they wanted to introduce that kind of gambling to the game, bring in Sabbac. Slicing needed nerfing, but not to this extreme
  6. No one is going to quit over something like this I hate when people throw that empty threat. They tweaked, went a bit too far, people are being vocal, it will eventually get revised. Give it time. In the meantime I am just being more frugal about spending, and won't be using my slicing skill unless it's out in the field. Augments aren't worth it and lock box missions are like sending your 10 year old out to the store with $20 and telling him to buy a fun sized candy bar. He's gone forever and comes back with something worth less than the cost of the trip.
