  1. Hey OP :)

Let's try this one last time....

    Big hair - Princess Amidala

Provocative attire - Princess Leia / Darth Talan plus many other examples

    Lightsabers - Pretty obvious

Now please, don't be that guy....don't just ignore the overwhelming weight of evidence presented in this thread as if anything that disproves your assertion doesn't exist.

Let's have your comments on why all of the above does not fit in with SW canon:)

  2. Many of you posters are so predictable. You throw around the t-word like candy on christmas. You accuse others of the very activities you engage in. You dont care about the game, the people who play it or the people who make it. The forums themselves are a game to you. There is just one problem, you dont decide who the t-words are, the moderators do.

Try to stay on topic and put away your obvious straw mans and ad hominem attacks. This thread is about what the game should look like. A ToR graphic novel or SW movie or a Las Vegas casino that features adult entertainment. SWTOR should look, sound and feel like Star Wars. I dont want to see characters who look like they just stepped off of the the stage in Vegas prancing around Carrick Station or the Imperial Fleet carrying lightsabres.

How about you stay on topic and provide examples of how, by your own words, light sabers, provocative attire and big hair are NOT canon? The thread is littered with examples of how all these things are canon yet you have failed to refute any of them....

Seems to me these things are very much canon, but your girlfriend personally just doesn't want you to see them. This does not change the fact that they are all canon and as I said, we have yet to see you prove the contrary. The burden lies with you to prove your assertion.....

  3. Please show me in the Star Wars canon where the Jedi paraded around like some of the avatars I see now on Carrick station. I have read ALL of the ToR novels and graphic novels and I can tell you with assurance that the only characters who dressed like club dancers were in clubs, cantinas or the palaces of the Hutts.

    Hey OP :)

Your assertion is that SW canon does not support provocative clothing, big hair and light sabers???

Despite many posters pointing out these things are supported in canon you have yet to provide any examples supporting your claims...the burden if proof lies with you :)

I can prove that provocative clothing, big hair AND light sabers are part of SW books, films and graphic novels. Where is your proof to the contrary?

  4. See, the best time for the game was between launch of JTL up until CU.

They started to have shorter shuttle times, more actual content besides just missions, better PvP stuff and so on. The game was a disaster at launch, I don't think anyone can argue that, however, even the devs themselves admitted that the change to CU and later NGE was the biggest mistake they made and it's been dubbed the dumbest move by an MMO, ever.

People are still angry at SOE for firstr giving a carrot to people to work towards for MONTHS and then just removing it. I know people who will not touch a SOE product ever again precicely because of the NGE.

Not to mention all of the legendary weapons and gear, the type of stuff people worked hard for months to obtain, that were server best one day and then vendor junk the next day following the CU update :(

If you could have the pre cu base game with some of the features added from the NGE once it had matured, that would be pure MMORPG gold IMO :)

  5. These are the same arguments that are used to justify adult entertainment. If adult entertainment is what you want, then indulge yourself in it. There is plenty of it on the internet including adult MMOs. Star Wars has always been family and to some extend kid-friendly. In no way does the SW canon support "Breasts, butts, big hair and lightsabres". Again, I singed up to play Star Wars not Sleaze Wars.

Is this what we have come to, not debating the merits of the SWTOR game itself but the injection of adult entertainment into the game? Is sleaze what SWTOR is about now?

I have a question for you BioWare, is "Sleaze Wars" the future of Star Wars? If it is, me and my guild will move on. You opened pandora's box with adding more sleaze on top of sleaze, where will it end?

    I like big...breasts/butts/hair/light sabers....and I cannot lie :)

But seriously OP...Star Wars canon doesn't support breasts and/or butts being accentuated? What about Princess Leia and the gold bikini? What about Darth Talan or the numerous other examples of "provocative" outfits?

Star Wars cannon does not support big hair? I give you Queen Amidala. Why your girlfriend would be offended by a hairstyle I cannot even begin to fathom though tbh...

Star Wars canon does not support light sabers? That does not even dignify a response :)

As others have said it sounds like your girlfriend has some issues if she gets this worked up over scantily clad women in a video game.....does she make you shut your eyes during the Jabba's palace / sail barge scenes in RoTJ too?

  6. Obviously you are extending the definition of what a lie is but since its up for interpretation everyone will now have their own take on it so you cant say your interpretation applies to me but mine does apply to the dictionary since thats the definition im using. Its not like im asking for a uber game all im asking is that they simply dont cla things they cant do. Its not thst hard but for some reason they love to appease the crowd by telling them something they know they cant live up to you can call it hype and justify it however u want but for me accountiility is real and importat and according to people dont hav to take accountibility for anything they do. Apparently not everyone was raised to take responsibility for themselves

Sombody with such a moral standpoint who clearly puts great importance in individuals being accountable for their actions would not put their name to the insults, mis-information, devisive and condescending flame bait that you post on a daily basis.

Nice try, but get off your high horse, I seriously doubt anyone who is able to use the search button would buy a word of it from you :)

  7. The problem is not a whole lot of those people like to queue for PVP.

The real thing that BIoware is unwilling to do (at least for now) that other games do that would help in this area is cross-sever queuing.

There were 3 "pvp" servers on that screenshot all with standard pop at mid afternoon on a Sunday...if players on pvp servers dont like to queue then im not sure what good cross server would do?

Am I being naive or are you saying the problem is pvpers dont like queueing for pvp?? On pvp servers??

  8. Once again it's shown that SWG was again light years ahead of TOR in just about everything.

SWG had space PvE, the TOR dev's don't even want to do anything with it.

SWG had update after update that put in tons of new content and many of that content allowed for player made systems, TOR puts in a arena or yet another themepark and tells us to deal with it.

SWG had a bounty hunting system that allowed players to hunt down other players and was loved by the community, TOR gives us a 'bounty' week now and then that is just a bad rep grind.

SWG we all knew would be around until it was canned, the player base was growing even after the NGE treason, TOR is losing subs left and right.

I think it's clear that EAWare has just given up with TOR at this point.

Can I just point out that whilst my love for SWG is pretty thinly veiled at times my thoughts and posts on the subject are in no way linked to this drivel :)

@AshenK if you think the game is losing subs so badly please direct your attention to the server pop screenshot taken at approx 4.30 this afternoon (Sunday) which was posted in the thread entitled Dead Game or something like that.

  9. I never said that nobody liked JTL PvE. :) I simply pointed out that the veteran historical commentary on SWGs space component is dominated by the PvP parts.

Maybe I'm tired (and I am) but I read your previous post as basically saying all PvE amounted to in JTL was some twitch based pew pew and that we could achieve the same in SW:TOR via on rails like we have now...I was just wanting to point out that "PvE" in JTL was FAR more comprehensive and fleshed out than just the twitch based combat in and of itself.

Apologies if I have misunderstood :)

  10. I think a veteran reward can serve two purposes when it comes to players.

    1) It keeps current players playing to reach the next milestone IF the rewards are desirable.

    2) It causes former players to return, especially if the system is based on time since account inception, so they can collect the goodies.

Now, an important component of that is that the rewards should be desirable naturally, but also that they should be items that can be sold. This way folks that do not want the rewards specifically can sell them off.

Some items that might strike as desirable would be IMO.....

Pack of 10 100% XP/1 hour bonus tokens

    Unique customizations for ship exteriors

    Unique customizations for ship interiors

    Unique companion customizations

Summon tokens that can be used by players to create a temporary QT point for unflagged players in a group. Only group members see the QT point.

    Rare dyes

Rare or embargoed but popular CM items

Cartel Coin packs (the actual coins)

Unique hologram disguises for your character...so you could look like a Jawa or Wookie if you wanted to.

Orange Adaptable level 1 examples of crafted armor

    Multiplayer vehicles

Tokens that allow you to create one stack of rare crafting material

Mods that give universal crafting bonuses to all crew members

Reusable presence buffs that stack with current player buffs (like canteena buffs)

There are many items that could be added that would likely be desirable to the general population.

Agreed and love your suggestions Lord Artemis :)

Particularly tokens for rare crafting mats, crew member crafting bonuses and exclusive customisation options...

  11. WHAT exactly could-you/would-you do in free form space PvE that you cannot do in the on the rails version that has been present since launch?

This deserves a sincere answer. Why? Because the answers will exemplify why it is in fact quite difficult to design the scripting and AI on Bioware's end of the discussion (which by the way.. they pointed out the fact that it is difficult in the cantina transcript.).

In fact... let's explore another question... because it has been the SWG veterans who have been most vocal about wanting a JTL equivalent. And.. what was that?

Essentially...real time, twitch, regioned, PvP space combat. Because frankly... most of what passed for PvE in SWG was very weak.

I really enjoyed the PvE elements of JTL...there was plenty of exploration and treasure hunting, POIs to discover, PvE achievements and rare loot specific to the space game, solo and group combat missions, mining of space minerals and an entire crafting profession (shipwright) linked to the PvE space game. Plus the ability to do all of this with you acting as pilot or gunner etc with your group/friends operating numerous stations around your ship such as gun torrents, co pilot or running round fixing damage. That was all separate to the purely PvP side of JTL.

One example would be the PvE attack runs on a Corvette consular ships which involved a very hard assault on the Corvette requiring a group of ships to defend against fighter escorts and take out the cruisers gun turrets, shields, generators and engines. You could also board the vessel which then lead into a group difficulty PvE mission to take the bridge etc

It's unlike you to be so disingenuous with an assessment, although if you never played JTL I can understand :)

  12. Lol! He sure did edit it. Wow... so, first it wasn't a credible source because it was a conversation during happy hour with the devs and now it is the truth from the Cantina Tour in NY. Hmm... what gives Nagus? Is a source only credible when you decide it is? Shall we take a poll on that?

    Lol...

Now that is one poll I might actually respond to :)

  13. I'm not the only one who noticed that then.

Regardless, I would take PvP space combat as we are hearing of it, especially if they continuously develop it to bigger and bigger systems, i know as a fact they themselves said that Guild Capital Ships were being developed along side the SSSP and that would have me way more excited than generic repeatable PvE missions i'll be done and over with in a week.

And there was me thinking I was the only one who noticed lol :)

Yeah I am really excited for space PvP and especially something as cool as capital ships :)

I am a little disappointed PvE looks so distant if at all but I am definitely excited for GS in general :)

  14. I think you missed the sarcasm implied with the image and the quotation marks.

Agreed...the OP was a positive post picking fun at the haters :)

Dripping with good natured sarcasm IMO :)

  15. Although it has been confirmed that the Galactic Starfighter expansion will be PvP only, many people have speculated that this is simply a foundation to build on and that PvE content will follow.

However, a TOR podcaster recently attended the New York community cantina event and had a chance to talk with the devs on the subject. You can listen to the comments starting at 42:05, but here is a direct quote:

So while they may change their minds and decide to build on the PvP-only foundation one day, that is not their current plan, and it definitely wont be any time in the foreseeable future.

But in you other thread you also said this is not anywhere near a credible source...then you edited your post.

Just how much of a **** stirrer do you want to be?

    Driz

  16. Not sure if you are being sarcastic but if you are serious then actually they are not right. if you look at that pic you see 5 heavy servers as well. The mere fact that there is any heavy servers at all means the game is NOT dead.

Think that was OPs point :)

That the vets and armchair pros on sites like MMORPG have no idea what they are talking about :)

  17. Just look at EU Primetime today. The "Elites" & "Veterans" from sites like mmorpg.com were right all along.

    Proof of dead game

My screen says you posted this at like 4.56pm which is not even anywhere near prime time IMO :)

    Lol...dead game indeed :)

Queue haters with outlandish theories and accusations of rigged numbers yadda yadda yadda...

It must be this time NEXT year the game will die :)

  18. Easy guys I don't see anything in the OP where he is blaming BW for others behaviour or saying this is BWs fault.

OP just states he is quitting and that's the reason, then implores BW for a fix to his issue...

Is a reason to quit? Certainly not in my book it's a completely silly reason to quit but let's not put words in OPs mouth at least...
