  1. Let's start from the beginning, he decides to send a group of Jedi to Ziost without the knowledge or approval of his leaders. This means that any actions that comes from this unauthorised mission would be on Theron, so it's a bad choice taken that risks others and their lives, not to mention the risks of being captured, and interrogated for information.

Theron knew there was something going on Ziost but he didn't know exactly what, then he lost contact with Surro and her team, the emperor was using her to further his aims, in effect any action the emperor took on Surro to kill innocent people is all a direct result of Theron sending that team in the first place. That is a Dark side action because he willingly and recklessly risked the lives of others and they and he paid the price when Surro and her team were taken over and started killing people and they themselves were at risk of being killed by your character.

He heard about something going on on Ziost and sent a team to check it out. Hardly a DS option o.O

Just because the results ended up the way they did doesn't mean he had bad or callous intentions.

  2. I guess the point of the betrayal is going to be that we didn't see it coming. But with all the info we have on satele and Theron not only from the game, but also the books and comics, it seems like it would be a pretty crazy leap for it to be them. Betraying a DS outlander is one thing, but pulling everyone into a galactic conflict that is going to cost a ton of lives on all sides doesn't compute. Why not just try to assassinate the outlander if they are the problem?
  3. Basically, Bioware have screwed themselves over. They can't make an effective betrayal because the fanbase will hate them for making a character they like turn on them.

That's why I'm leaning towards it being the scions or someone boring like that. Single player game, no big deal if someone you wanted to keep betrays you, because you can always reload a save or do another playthrough etc. But with swtor idk how they would handle it if it were Lana or Theron. A lot of people are very invested at this point. Myself included :D

  4. People don't want to believe it, but I feel it is actually Theron who is the traitor. But not by his own choice. People need to consider something. Of all the available powers in the galaxy, there was one not represented during the events on Iokath. Zakuul is tied to the Alliance, so they're safe, and both Republic and Sith came knocking with the same leaked intel. However, the Hutts, who're just as desperate for resources, according to Hylo's message, are the only ones not present. There's no reason to believe they wouldn't have tried to get there first, gather all the weapons and tech they could, and then sell them to all sides in order to make their profits and protect their interests.

You could argue the Hutts are allied with the Republic, but that was only a part of them from the Makeb incident, and the Hutts are resentful due to the Republic bleeding their resources to help both settle the Makeb survivors and fund their war efforts against the Sith Empire. Then they spent the next 5-odd years being bled out by Arcann and Zakuul. They're not exactly happy customers here.

So what does all that have to do with Theron? Well, while it may not be the Hutts themselves, or not the Hutts directly, it could very well be forces in the Underworld manipulating him by way of someone he cares about; Teff'ith. Through past events, the Twi'lek Teff'ith has been connected to both Theron Shan and his former teacher and surrogate father, Jedi Master Ngani Zho. Teff'ih has appeared in both the SWTOR comics and novels and Theron sees her as kind of a younger sister, despite Teff'ith really not liking having Theron watching out for her behind her back. However it doesn't change the fact he does keep tabs on her and tries to make sure she doesn't get over her head.

We actually receive a message from Teff'ith during the "Shadow of Revan" campaign, so she is established as existing within the game, we've just never met her directly. Teff'ith had worked as a slaver, a member of Black Sun, and was thought to have once worked for Rogun the Butcher. But now we move ahead 5yrs with KotFE and with the disappearance/loss of the Republic Smuggler, the entire criminal underworld has been left up for grabs amidst the terror of the Eternal Fleet stamping around.

Now, let's say the Hutts or a new powerful figure in the Underworld managed to learn about Iokath and what was going on with the Alliance through spies in Hylo Viz's smuggling groups, and they decided the best way to get what they want and remove the strongest military powers in the galaxy is to have them all fight each other. No better way to do that than with a big fat super-weapon that could change the balance of power and make them all fight over it. And that's where Theron comes in.

If Teff'ith was captured and/or her life was being threatened, Theron would want to do anything to save her, hence his further emotional state during the events on Iokath. Theron doesn't want to be a traitor, but until he can find some way to root out who's manipulating him, the Republic and Empire, then he's trapped. If he tries to tell anyone what's going on, in secret or not, Teff'ith could end up dead and all that would be accomplished is everyone loses trust in him. Theron is stuck between a rock and another rock. Neither can be scaled. He's stuck until someone else can find a way out of that situation for him.

We know Theron cares for her, but that much? Enough to betray not only his family and the republic, but the alliance he's worked for so hard, and the love of his life? (Or good friend if you don't romance him)

That would be weak. They can do much better than that.

  5. Plus there was how strange he was acting in the very beginning. Why would he have had that sad/guilty/upset look on his face? It'd be such weak writing if it's him though. Unless they are so good that they are trying to make us think it it him, only to pull the rug out at the last second and reveal who it really is. But since when has their writing been that subtle? I mean I adore bioware but Risha, Scorpio, Baras, etc. the twists and betrayals were never really a surprise.

If it's Lana OR Theron I guess they could make it work. Depending on who you pissed off the most. But if they make it just Theron I will probs unsub. And I've been playing since beta. It would just be way too out of character, especially if you are playing a LS toon. Guess we just have to wait and see :(

  6. After everything Theron's been through at the moment especially if you choose the Imp side I wouldn't blame the poor guy for cracking and doing something in the heat of the moment. :( I'd totally forgive the guy to though. :)

Cracking, maybe. But he's been through some **** before too. Plus this stuff has been in the works for some time as we learned with the uprising info and everyone being pitted against each other on iokath. Before his dad is involved.

  7. What if the person/organization that Lana/Theron is betraying you for actually betrays them once you get to Iokath? Just uses them and it spirals out of control. I can see why Lana or Theron might oppose the ruling methods of the Emperor/Peacekeeper, but I don't know why either of them would want to start a huge war or give data to BOTH republic and Empire.

This is getting too elaborate for the current writers, I'm sorry to say. It's probably just the damn scions and we're all derps.

That would be interesting... but I agree a bit too complex for what swtor is. Maybe it is just the scions!

  8. That's something that I've been mulling over as well.

There's no reason for Theron to betray an LS Republic Class + Republic Aligned Commander.

Likewise, why would Lana betray a DS Empire Class + Empire Aligned Emperor?

So my first theory was that it's dependent on your choice in Chapter 9 of KOTET. Theron betraying an Emperor made sense. But if that's the case, why kills his own father? That's perhaps too much of a role even for a superspy.

And the big issue is that while Theron might betray an Emperor/Empress, Lana has no real reason to betray a Commander. Sure, they might be softer than she likes, but Sith value power and the Commander is almost as ****** as Commander Shepard.

And of the Alliance Specialists, only Sana Rae seems out of place. She's the only one not mentioned before KOTFE, and she's the only one who has special conversations with you.

I'm not sure about Theron killing Jace though. I mean he missed like three shots when the dude was right in front of him. He's a better shot than that XD Plus it's the chair that kills Acina and Jace, as far as I'm aware.

  9. That's a good point about Tyth just trying to rile you up. But I don't see the story going forward without getting rid of the alliance. They did what they set out to do, and the fact that the devs made it clear that imps and pubs are gonna be at each other's throats again. Seems like betrayal is a good way to tear it all down.
  10. That's true about trust, and gods know a lot of the player characters in swtor have trust issues, but it's a far cry for those two. Trying to kill you and wipe out any semblance of order in the galaxy is a hell of a long way from talking bad about someone behind their back.

I just don't see it making sense with Lana or Theron.

  11. Oh god D: That is a good thought though. I just reeeeally don't want it to be Lana or Theron. Not only does it not make sense, but everyone seems to love them. Or at least like them. Maybe they are going to make it whichever one of them you have pissed off the most. I could see Theron not being on board for a full dark character. And my pure light toon that romances Theron has let Lana down on like every choice... This is very upsetting :(
  12. If they end up making it Theron or Lana that is going to be some seriously bad writing. It just makes zero sense for it to be either. Tyth says something about the traitor being full of anger and pain. That's not the case with either Lana or Theron. I know one is a spy and the other led sith intelligence, but what could the motives possibly be for them?
  13. This storyline is the first in a loooong time that is interesting (to me). I would LOVE if they became companions. I agree that they're both leaders, and they wouldn't really fall in and follow someone around easily. But each pc is pretty damn important in their respective faction, so it's doesn't seem that far fetched to me that they could work together.

Or maybe it's just wishful thinking because <3 Theron,

  14. I would love love LOVE to have a *no* tattoo option for Mirialans, Ratatakki and Zabrak. I'm all for tats, but it just doesn't fit some of my characters. It seems like such an easy addition and would be appreciated by quite a few others I know :)
