  1. I don't see what is wrong with BW's answers. People keep quoting the "heal to full", but that seemed like a reasonable point to met.

Yep, i found the answers very well explained and and i think they are right. Most of the whinning is due L2P. And even if i knew im not a skilled player, i should know that classes like Sages, for example, and by design, are harder to master than a Gunslinger. Or in PvP, Sawbones are easier than Seers but in PvE, Seer shines.

People should realize than some classes are easier to play than others. And f you wanna play a Sage DPS, for example, in PvP and you are not good, the problem is not the class itself but you.

  2. I

Server transfers came in June...4 months after launch. And they came in the face of a good number of heavy servers going light and players complaining that their servers were dying and they wanted to be able to move to different servers. So.. they either had to do forced merges or take the approach they did. Credit to them that they acted quickly (as population loss was already down by more then 30% by May and that trend line continued through the year, but don't take my word for it.. look at the steep attrition slope at mmodata.net). Had they not acted quickly, they would have folded shop completely.

Trion did much faster and by far with better customer service than BW. EA would have charged for the service like is doing now cos they just care the money, not the customer.

And when server transfers came in Rift, here in Europe, my server Blightweald was running very well and even, and due the free transfers, some servers like Whitefall (PvP) got insane queues cos it. And we are talking about a 100% suscription based MMO. I agree that transfers came cos some servers got light but they managed very different and taking care of the customer. The opposite we are suffering here in SwTor.

And Trion didnt screw up the release like BW did. The difference about the service between both companies is so huge that any discussion about it, is pointless.

I´ve played a lot of MMORPGS and this game got one of the worst customer service i ever saw. And is cos EA sucks.

  3. how would you say "i want you to suffer" with positive spin? just say "they suffer more in WoW".

Wow has absolutely nothing to do here. Both are MMORPGs, yes, but nothing more. Wow was a successful since the beginning with millions of players and is still 100% suscription based. SwTor, Bioware and EA, screwed up the release and even was called Tortanic for a long time. Another Wow-killer defeated.

SwTor has been the opposite and the Cataclysm didnt come as an expantion pack but a million of bad decisions losing 75% of customers in a few months.

IF Wow charges 20€ or 200€ or for free pero character transfer doesnt matter here. We are talikng about different things. Different ways to handle a business.

  4.

I played Rift from launch to late in the year. At that time... F2P was still a question mark as a business model in the industry AND Rift management was dead set against it at that time.

So they did the only thing they could do in lieu of changing their business model (which Turbine by the way had proven was a valid solution to game population declines).....they gave players free transfers. It worked as it consolidated player characters and kept players interested. If they had made them paid transfers, they would have collapsed. t

Then you should know that server transfers came with 1.3, early summer, just a few months after the release. And if you played that game, you should know that when the free transfers came, the game was running quite well with good population. F2P came 2 years after that.

And iirc, any customer was able to transfer for free once a week. For me, was a terrible idea but the free transfers were there available for everyone. And even, you got the option to tranfer with your guild if they decided to move.

So, pls, is ok you wanna defend BW at all cost but tell the truth first.

  5. The amount of fanboys in this thread is awesome.

But actually, they are afraid about a mass exodus from their servers and wont stop defending this crap BW made. Where the loyal customer gets punished and the one with one or two toons, not. This is i call a outstanding customer service. Hurra!!!!

Bioware did this mess. If they dont wanna make a Legacy Transfer or something like that, money is money, they should have rewarded the old accounts with some kind of free transfers for the people who got stuck in servers cos THEY DID a HORRIBLE WORK releasing this game.

And instead of fixing this mess, they charge for it and the fanboys defend it. Incredible.

  6. Seriously, do you think this deserves to be a 2.X patch?. There was a time when something called patch 2.2 or 1.7 or 3.1 etc and not 2.2.3.4, in a MMORPG, came with some interesting content. And a recycled OP is something like a joke i must say.

But, oh wait, we got a new cartel pack. Thanks. I cant count how many have been released since F2P.

I guess the new FPs will be Colicoid and Red Reaper. And the new OP will be Eternity Vault at 55 and harder than the current ones.

  7. no its less the what other games charge... he just lacks the ability to add. Moving 9 characters in this game is 120 bucks, moving 9 character in say wow is 225 bucks. That is over 100 bucks cheaper, how is this game a rip off? The answer is it is not, the OP is simply a self entitled cry baby that wants everything handed to him for basically nothing.

First, this is NOT Wow. Wow HAS NOT class stories, Legacy and DOESNT ENCOURAGES the leveling with different toons. Swtor does.

So pls, we dont care how much Blizard charges for the transfers. Is a different game,a different company. There are also MMOS that offer transfer for free and noone here is asking a Legacy for free. So, pls stop that stupid argument.

If you DONT understand this, you must work for Bioware.

  8. You can transfer a toon every 3 months just for subbing. I don't see the issue here. You play rateds on all your toons?

There are people who dont care rateds or nightmare modes etc but they like the game as well. In my case and following your suggestion, 6x3 =18 months. Awesome thanks!! you made my day.

I like to swap between my toons playing different classes, different roles, different stories etc and i also work on crafting skills (got all) so i´m self-sufficient and is the stuff i ilke to do in the game. Sorry if you disagree.

So, or i transfer everyone or i dont move. I dont wanna leave a toon behind starting a mirror in the other server. And i dont get why a game that encourages the storyline, the legacy, leveling alts etc, is so greedy to charge a hell of money to the customers who like that "playing style" while a "Wow mode" guy playing one or two toons only, will get much easier to transfer.

If this forum was about Wow or another game, this thread would be useless cos 1800 per char would be quite fair i must say. But its not, is about SwTor: and a Legacy transfer should be available and BW knows it. It´s just that EA is too greedy and wanna milk us again.

  9. The legacy system means nothing to me. I don't care. And it begs the question. The issue you still won't answer is: WHY do you feel compelled to transfer? And WHY do you think you are allowed to set the price? You talk about poor little rich kids, but you are the one who is whining.

If you dont care, why are you posting here? are you working for Bioware?. It seems that with every post where the OP doesnt hail Bioware, some people come to extinguish the fire and, or they are Bioware employees with no yellow tag or i simply dont undestand why they come to throw stones to the OP.

If due to this feedback by the community, BW also releases a Legacy transfer cheaper than: "1800 CC x number of toons of the server" (which i think they should) as customers all we will get the benefit, ALL, no matter if you care or not now. Who knows if in the future you will be using that service. I dont get why you are against....sorry, i find it quite retard being a customer.

Anyway, i will answer you. I want to tranfer cos i wanna go a PvE server. After half and a year i think is time to move. But due the EA policy i will need to pay an amount of money which i wont, of course. With this policy, the loyal customer is getting stuck in the starting server or is getting milked again if wanna move.

  10. I think you're mistaken man. Legacy system makes a lot of difference. I know you take your current legacy level with you, but as of right now, you don't accumulate legacy xp with alts a cross different servers. That's the point, and I don't think that was a change they have planned to implement either.

I think this game is a little more unique than you are willing to admit.

    Exactly.

  11. Probably got the idea from the 5 other big MMOs that charge almost double that amount per character for transfers.

You forgot the Legacy and the class story thing. Tell me ONLY one MMORPG but SwTor where you see those features.

If Wow or who knows what game charges the double per character it doesnt matter here cos is a different thing. Customers are not saying that 1800 cc per character is expensive, they (we) are asking why not a Legacy transfer is avalable as well. That´s all.

    And we deserve an answer.

  12. They seriously need to think about this, anyone who has been loyal customers despite the state of this game since release have quite a few alts and bioware has encouraged making alts. Paying 80 bucks to transfer 7 characters is insane and I don't see how they benefit from gouging loyal customers who would otherwise keep playing their game and paying them money to do so.

Its just common sense which I know is extremely rare on this board and with mmo devs. Broke people or people who quit your game will not buy your crap on the cartel market, keep people happy with the game experience and not feeling screwed over and you will get their money.

Does anyone really think they will make more money from gouging people for server transfers than they would from keeping their customers happy and playing on servers they like?

I started here in the headstart, bought the CE. I came to a PvP server with friends even when i dont like PvP servers ( in other MMOs i always play PvE/RP server) but they decided to join a PvP one and i accepted cos i wanted to play with them. My server was a destiny when free transfer came so no able to move after a half and a year and my friends have gone. During this time and due the Lecagy, i got 6 toons right now.

Bioware now offers paid transfers with 0 discounts, just an option: 1800 CC per character. The guy/s behind this idea, deserve a medal. Greedy as hell.

I just hope they think about this. Same about EU <-->US if is technically possible.

  13. Hey folks,

    How much do transfers cost?

Paid character transfers cost 1800 Cartel Coins per character. The purchase must be made using Cartel Coins.

    -eric

Eric, pls tell the guys who has decided this crap: THANKS!!!!

Thanks for nothing. Thanks for no rewarding the loyal customers who have been playing this game many months leveling many characters cos THIS GAME ENCOURAGES THE LEGACY and it means several toons for many players.

I got 6 toons as you can easily check and,or i transfer all of them or nothing. 1800*6= 10800 Cartel Coins. Are you crazy? this is your way to reward your customers? no legacy transfer or even a discount depending on the toons to transfer? NOTHING??. Is this your way to handle the game?.

Pls, this is my feedback. 1800 to transfer a toon is ok but pls, give a discount depending on the number of toons or better, a legacy transfer. It is pure common sense.

    Again, thanks for nothing.

  14. Hi Warforever! PvP and Class Balance are the same team of guys. It makes sense that the designers working on one also work on the other. This means that raising the level cap to 55 for Rise of the Hutt Cartel last month and redoing all the talent trees for all classes and extending the PvP game to level 55 and redoing the PvP gear for Rise of the Hutt Cartel has kept them busy. In fact, it took a heroic effort on their part to accomplish all this.

Heroic? if was heroic then they are a very small team. We had to wait tons of months for a class balance and what we got? just minor tweaks and ONE NEW skill for each class being an expansion pack. Sorry but was very disappointing if you ask me. And about PvP, a Bolster which even being a good idea, was totally broken.

Agamantelo told us about reworking Ilum when was closed a year ago and what we got after many months? a crappy recurrent event released last Feb.

Sorry but your customers are starting to need proofs, not just emplty words. And the time is running fast im afraid. Like i said, is raining over wet ground.

  15. To counter this argument: (even though I am a subscriber.)

Because other games that are F2P dish out content constantly to everyone for free and do it well. Subscriptions are becoming a thing of the past in most cases and F2P/Cash shops are becoming more prominent in the MMO market.

But in this game's current state of being a half F2P/Subscriber model (which doesn't really work that great since subscribers haven't got much for their 15 bucks except no awful f2p restrictions.)

    You got big point.

EAWare released SwTor using a suscription model which was obsolete and just came late to the party and failed.

And now they are coming late again using an obsolete hybrid F2P/Subs model and the "Coming Soon" or the 6-8 weeks "stale" patches wont be enough against other online games if they continue with this policy about selling "smoke". Cos EA is selling "smoke" now and customers, but fanboys, are starting to get bored.

And i will say again, fanboys CANT hold a proyect like this.

  16. How silly is this ??

Do you seriously believe, that a sub should not be desireable over a preferred status??

If all subscribers would just go preferred, as that would work the same way, where would the money come from to pay for the running costs of the game ??

Obviously a sub needs advantages over the "minor" account types.

Or would you prefer the Tera/rift style and make 69gear with set bonus and better "cartel only" ?

Do you want to see your server FULL or empty?. Thats the thing you should care as customer: good service and many players playing. End.

This game is UNPLAYABLE without a sub. Would you play as Preferred buying crappy Weekly passes, ressing kilometers away, no free respeccs etc?. I dont think so. That is what happens when someone unsubs, one less in the server.

  17. How am I supposed to have a reasonable discussion with someone who exaggerates this much?

"Unplayable".... I see... you cannot kill stuff, cannot click things, cannot level, cannot use skills, cannot enjoy ALL of the story ? Oh you can ? What makes the game unplayable then ?

Just ask if a subscriber would play this game as Preferred. I will tell you the answer: NO.

Thats the big point here and where EA will lose the war against smartest companies.

  18. yeah... so what? You don't pay anything, so you do not get everything. Explain, how that is unfair please.

IF is unfair or not, doesnt matter.

The thing that surprises most here is reading customers acting like they were EA. You, as customer, should not care if EA earns money or not, you should care if EA spends money and if they care the custome....SO YOU: F2P, Preferred and/or Subscriber. Everyone is a customer if have installed the client and got an account.

The problem about F2P in Swtor is that F2P is unplayable. It means that a suscriber that unsubs, if someone that stops playing and is -1 for the server, the guild, and you as well cos is a guy that wont join warzones, FPs etc and is 0 income for EA too.

The problem here comes when other companies start doing something different like Tera o Rift: And both are excelent games even if you dont like it. SwTor has caught an old F2P.

And while a guy who uninstalls SwTor cos unsubs (for whatever reasons) due to stop/unstall is the best option if you dont want to play a sub here.....if would be a F2P like Tera/Rift, and likes the game, wont do cos he will BE ABLE TO PLAY the game even not being a subscriber. Here CANTcos is AWFUL. Maybe he will play less but he will play (is not -1 ) and while EA is losing a customer, with a friendly F2P would be oposite. And imo, thats is a big difference. Is a bit the same formula than ArenaNet and GW2. And imo, thats the future of F2P and not the crap we see with SwTor where they charge you for everything cosEA just care your money, nothing else.

  19. Nobody cares

You should care. You know why?. A better F2P model would bring more people and would keep more people. And even more, people would play more often. That´s the thing EA doesnt understand. Tera got more servers in Europe than SwTor, for example. And is a Korean game. Something is wrong here with Swtor and is EA and the F2P model. This game is living ok for the moment cos is Star Wars, nothing more. And in a few weeks, we will see how Rift grows cos chose the right F2P model. With a F2P model like SwTor, would be the tomb for the game.

Subscribers. The more Cartel Markey grows, the less the suscriptions worths. You get less with 15€ per month now than on last February, for example.

Answer is simple: EA or not EA. EA always moves behind and this time copied the Turbine F2P model but much worse and much more simple. When Lotro, for example, got a handicap cos many of fanbase were already VIP cos the lifetime.

Rift or Tera model is much better and if SwTor and this thread and you should care if you like this game cos there is still time for EA to change this.
