  1. Yup, perfectly fine. A large chunk of his combat effectiveness is defined by his companion. He worked to help bring down that world boss so he deserves to benefit from it.

Don't like that idea? Then explain to me how companions aren't a critical part of your build.

How did the companion participate in that fight to earn the right to roll?

  2. There is nothing I wrote that implied a scroll back feature wasn't an option.

If you think good parsers are 'care bear', what are you even doing here?

You shouldn't be using a computer. Electricity. You should be using stone tools to fashion clothing from dead animal skins and thatching together huts for shelter.

Christ, you sound like one of those 'back in my day' people. No one cares what it was like back in the EQ days. People moved on from that game for a reason.

So, how will you using these tools improve peoples lives in the world?

  3. We told Bioware since 2008 that the trinity was a bad idea.

They responded saying that it was the best way to assure interdependence between players and challenge. Ofc it is BS.

Now we notice the same problems as in other MMOs relying on the trinity. One role is missing, and the content cannot be run.

I have none respects for a developer whose design led to " LFG tank and healer" spam.

    Your opinions are acknowledged.

    Do you have any suggestions?

  4. My guess it will end up like CoH, where you would just group up then steamroll 99% of the content with a few boss fights needing assigned roles/classes.

    Thats what I am thinking.

    Another question came to mind.....gearing.

If everyone has 3 potential roles will they all need 3 different sets of gear?

Or will it be one set of gear to rule them all?

  5. well like i said its going to be a new learning curve, skills and strategy are going to probably decide your success more than gear scores. For pugs it will probably be hard, until people learn how not to suck badly. But all content doesnt have to be made to require that intense level, and a lot of it probably wont. Just like in wow you dont need a whole trinity to level to cap, or in this game you can do two man heroics with almost any 2 people. for the hard stuff though, people are going to have to communicate and learn to play well and with others, but isnt that the point of the harder stuff?

I'm just being realistic. The new MMO player doesn't want challenge.

One question...if a single player can heal, tank, and dps....

Whats the difference if it was 3 different people each ont with a specific task?

I am curious how GW2 is doing it. Do the players decide before the fight who is taking on what roles based on how they are geared?

Do roles change mid fight and if so how does each player know what role to take at that moment?

All these questions seems to need alot of coordination on the fly and in a pug how will that happen?

Would the servers all have to be segregated based on language sopeople can talk? I say talk because I could not imagine people typing on the fly....not me anyways.

Questions, questions, questions............I guess we will see how GW2 is doing it soon.

  6. ok, while i neither hate nor love the trinity it has real problems, and it has been done many times, im up for something more interesting. Still i know this whole entire game and class structure has been developed with the trinity in mind, you cannot remove it.

I think the people who think you must have a trinity, or that without a trinity it becomes a burn down for everything arent really understanding things.

Not having a the trinity simply means you dont have the same static i can only do 1 thing with each class type thing. A battle can still break down into taking damage dealing damage and support, but a class does not have to be only one thing. that would be the breaking of the trinity.

it doesnt mean there will be no strategy, but rather decentralizing one role in battle toward the whole group. bouncing hate, managing group buffs, changing focuses during combat, sounds very strategic, and interesting.

Nice idea, when playing with friends and guildies.

In a pug enviroment.....not so much.

  7. u do remember why EQ, WoW failed reason ,right?

cause ALL THE HARDCORE RAID stuff !!!

ppl have jobs, dont wanna do that again to grind in MMOs.

EQ is just going F2P after 12 years....yup that's fail.

If you have a job and don't have the time why are you choosing to play a genre of game that is based on time commitment?

You could just accept the fact that you do not have the time and do what you can.

But we know that because you pay $15 you feel entitled to do everything for less effort.

And I don't blame companies for catering to you.

They can charge the same money and you use their services less...win win for them.

  8. Yeah, that droid has started getting on my nerves, too, for some reason. I try to sneak past him by hugging the ship walls just so I don't have to hear him. Never works though. He must have motion sensors.

    lol I tried that too.

Before you enter the ship put the game on mute till you leave it.

  9. That's your opinion. I know many people who disagree and very much enjoy PvP. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people dont.

I have been 50 for about 2 weeks and haven't even started a raid yet (waiting on some RL friends to hit 50), I am still very much enjoying myself. I just finished todays PvP dailies after some good 25v25 illum PvP am going to do a few more warzones then I have plans to take down a world boss later tonight.

I am having fun, sucks for you that you are not.

Ah, stood in a round and aoe'd each other....yup...nothing wrong with the pvp here.

  10. That's exactly my impression of that jett-whatever dude. Probably never in a top guild. Never good enough to raid. Never good enough to get very far. Of course you like this dumbed down game.

Well, I don't know about being good enough but I do know that in most MMOs if you put in the effort you will eventually get the rewards.

  11. First off paragraphs are your friend.

Secondly: they didn't add Raids; Raiding began in EQ because two groups of players got the bright idea that if they all zerg rushed these uber bosses (That were put there as small group content for uber high level characters) they could be gods in the game....the first so called Raids actually were given suspensions because they circumvented the rules. I know I was there.

Thirdly: Times change now MMO gaming is main stream and the core audience (meaning the largest demographic) absolutely dose not want to deal with a lord of the flies Faux-Oligarchy Where self appointed pro gamers get exclusive content on the backs of every other subscriber TOR was never designed to be that way and if Bioware screws up and listens to the mewling minority it will be their NGE.

On the backs of who, self appointed what?

The only thing stopping anyone from doing any in game content is the amount of effort they themselves are willing to put in.

If you cannot do the content you only have yourself to blame. No one is stopping you from doing anything.

Its obvious that you want to do what the 1% are doing but just don't want to put the effort in.

And that's why this is the game for you. No challenge, no time commitment.

  12. Are you actually advocating the old Straw man that "MMO's need elitist so the little people can look up to them?"

Please tell me I'm wrong

Whats elitist about wanting to be rewarded for putting in more time and or effort?

By your logic the guy who just started the same job as you should have the same pay as you even though you have been doing the job longer.

Something tells me you wouldn't be happy about that.

  13. Haha. Have you walked every road in Hoth? Have you taken screenshots of yourself at the highest point on every planet? Have you leveled to 50 naked? There are always more things to do!

I spent tons of time in rift finding mountains to climb on my turtle just so I could jump off into the water below just for the hell of it....a bridge...over I go.

Every time I try to here either I cannot climb it because of some invisible wall or I get this fatigue thing.

  14. Wonder why Bioware couldn't pick the door #3 :

Make a game that panders to both Hardcores AND Casuals by offering actual end-game content with low barrier to entry but very high skill cap.

You know, like...making hardmodes and nightmare modes actually mean something beyond adding 10% to hp and damage per "difficulty tier".

Because eventually someone will QQ that they want to do the hardcore stuff too but only after it has been turned into normal mode.

    Raiding is about gearing.

    1) More time invested and or challenge gets loot table A.

    2) Less time invested and less challenge gets loot table B.

Guess which group wants to do 2 but get loot table A.

That is the crux of the issue.

  15. I'm in the same boat as you, I just made 50 last week with my wife. We did all the content together. We have a very erratic schedule and cannot devote much time to the game. But I do not consider us "gamers" any more either. And the guys in my guild that are gamers, that have time to devote to the game, have 2-3 50's and done everything the game has to offer, more than once. I think there are far more of those players around, than of folks like us.

I think that you are the target audience for this game.

The people who are into cutting edge progression raiding are not playing this game because it is not designed for them. That is obvious.

The people who think they fit into the above mentioned group are playing, and they typically are very vocal in what they want even at the expense of others.
