Companions Crowd Control Ability Does Not Work

I'm finding that companions crowd control ability (Stasis Field, Dark Tempest, etc.) is not working correctly. As in, the effect is landing on the enemy in question (I can see Dark Tempest starting up), but after 0.25 seconds the target is back to firing at me. There is no periodic damage effects on the enemy, there was no resist from the enemy, no direct damage was recorded on the enemy being CC'd after the CC ability was fired, the enemy is at greater than 90% health, and yet the CC ability doesn't work for the full 10 seconds.
