Some feedback for the new system we could test on the PTS

Hey everyone ^^

I have tested the "new" Jedi Guardian on the PTS and wanted to talk a little about why I think that Biowares approach is not a good idea.

First of all, I sure do know that it's all in an early state and nothing is final. Things will get changed and we should not make too hasty conclusions about the things we have seen on the PTS.

But tbh, I highly dislike what we saw on the PTS. I share the opinion of a lot of people, so far this looks like an approach to "dumb things down" in order to streamline the classes....which is actually not needed. Taking away critical abilities we had full access to before and then letting us choose which ones we would like to have back is just an illusion of choice.

In the end, you don't have the choice to play the way you want, you are forced to play in a way Bioware allows you to play, which is the opposite of what we actually were looking for when they first announced the combat system stuff.

For me, what has always been a very nice and special thing in SWTOR, is that we have great abilites in this game. They all fullfil a purpose, they are all designed around their specific classes and they all find their use in certain situations in all aspects of the game. Not a single ability is useless, not even Saber Strike on Sage/Sorc.

And it's great that you, e.g. as a Guardian, have access to all those abilities that were orginially desgined for your class and that you can make full use of them in the right situation. Let aside the fact, that what we saw on the PTS didn't even feel like a Guardian at all, they made us choose between very critical dcd's. Maybe it's just for showcasing how it's going to work and they would never make a Guardian choose between Reflect and Enure, but I'm actually not so sure about this.

What I wat to say is:

-The classes do not need to become easier nor do they need to be even more streamlined as they already are.

-All abilities in this game fullfil a certain purpose and do not need to be removed in the manner we saw on the PTS.

-There are not too many abilities, the amount is just fine, in fact, there could be even more in order to actually bring more variety to the game. And everybody who says that hey have problems with keybinding probably just doesn't do it right or does not want to move their hand more than 1cm.

-"Dumbing down things" is going to drive away a lot of old and veteran players that have fully enjoyed the game in it's current state --> But here is where it comes: Bioware does not rely on those players. With these changes, they intend to squeeze money out of new or returning players who will be like: "Oh ye this looks gud I love it it's so easy I only have to press 5 buttons my lighsaber goes brrrrr"

-So please, Bioware, the game is not to hard (also not for beginners) and the abilites or a part of the identity of the classes and should not be removed and we should not have to choose between already existing ones.

It's like paying 10 years for the full package and then suddenly, you have to pay the same price for the same package but now, it only contains 50% of what it used to, allthough you loved the full package.

Do you really think, people who ordered the full package for 10 years will now pay the same price to get 50% of the package, while you tell them that they now can finally choose how they want to use their remaining 50% of the package?

Sorry, but that's not just a bad idea, it's a fat puch into the established player base because we know, you guys are just in for the money and you have always been.

Regardless of that, everything else what we currently know about combat systems, sound s 100% great.

Meaning that you might be able to choose to play as an Assassin by wielding a double bladed lightsaber, though you're actually a Jedi Sage or a Sith Marauder. Or wielding two Pistols as Scoundrel and eventually becoming a Slinger or a Merc. That is such a great idea and it is what had me so hyped for 7.0.

That would be a real choice players could make to impact their playstyle.

It's like adding another cool thing to the package that you have paid for over 10 years and now you even get a nice extra that you were looking forward to for so long.

It would attract new players and returning players and also keep the currently exsiting players base.

And you know what? They all would be happy.

So please, forget about what you were showing us on PTS and keep the great ideo of combat styles and loadouts as you have presented them to us in the stream.

Ty ^^
