The second thing about testing... ...is NOT wasting time

The clock is ticking; you've got a target date in mind; you have only so much resource available to address issues that are discovered; you need to decide priorities for fix; you need to investigate the full extent of impact of the discoveries; you need to determine workarounds; you need to test the fixes; you need to agree workarounds and released known bugs are acceptable; and a whole host of other things!

 

So why open a test environment that wastes testers' time from the moment they start and throughout their efforts to test?

a) Multiple stages across multiple loading screens to acquire the starting set-up for test characters.

b) Make travel speeds and travel cooldowns the slowest they can be whilst insisting that the testers move across a sizable playing area with meaningful encounters spaced widely.

 

Why not use your promotional rewards email mechanism to deliver pre-packed equipment to the toon based on the choice they make about which loadout they want to test?
