Introspective
Uh. If we're fighting some mega-Agent who is smultaneously an Operative and Sniper, we'll be in some trouble. UNLESS we active Super-Mega-Action-Hero form where we become a Commando, Vanguard, and Sarlacc Enforcer all in one. Plus, we haver a laser eye-beam power that turns anyone we don't like into a pile of goo. Edited December 14, 2011 by Introspective

Introspective
Ok anyway who would win? (also give me some spoilers) Odds favor the sniper if he's hidden well, lucky with his crits, and manages to get the drop on the commando. If the commando can survive his initial ambush (this is quite possible if you react quickly and intellgently), identify his location, and get within range to start retaliating, the tables might turn. It's hard to theorycraft too much, because we're both ranged damage specialists and have an arsenal of cooldowns to get into an arms race with. It really does come down to a "who's kung fu is better" situation. ... that said, I really don't think cover protects from a well-placed Mortar Volley. I hope he's ready to run. Kanadaeh
Yeah those imps wont stand a chance against our cannons and etc.! Why did you ask the thread in the trooper forum..... you really think you are going to get unbiased answers or do you just want somebody to reassure you that "trooper will pawn face all day" /thread. EDIT: Watch some sniper videos and you will get your answer. Edited December 14, 2011 by Kanadaeh

EDIT: Watch some sniper videos and you will get your answer. Now, I like to think that I gave a pretty unbiased answer. The only distinctly pro-trooper point I listed was Mortar Volley, and I'd be interested in hearing that refuted. To the best of my knowledge, snipers don't have any exceptional damage-soaking abilities, so it might be wise to break from cover when one of the hardest-hitting AoEs in the game lights up the ground around you? Somewherehiding
Depends on skill, but it would be a pretty even fight. If you outheal the marksman snipers burst damage for long enough, so that the sniper runs low on energy, you can damage them in between heals. If you go 1to1 without trying to get them low on energy, they'll burst you down before you do.
Sammaj
I dueled(several duels) with my CM against a smuggler around lvl 20 in beta. It ended up to be a game of cooldowns. Whoever had most cooldowns to use would win... In the long run tho, i think the smuggler had the upper hand

I'm betting assault spec may do better in this scenario with being about to jump around more and utilize LOS. Speccing gunnery plays to the snipers advantage, since your both turrets and hes got more tools. Flanking him cuts his abilities in half since hes not in cover. Amien
Snipers generally won't move in cover because they can spec to be immune to CC, be uninterruptable in cover, and have a large defense bonus in cover, etc. They have alot of incentive to not break cover. Grey_Knight
Sniper is in cover. Step1: Use shield Step2: Close distance (while using hammershot and sticky grenade, using medical pack to cleanse explosive probe off of you) Step3: Concussive Blast (Knocking back a sniper in cover often bugs them out not allowing them to enter cover again.) Step4: Adreniline Rush Step5: Kill Agent Edited December 15, 2011 by Grey_Knight
