Stronghold Decorations -- Interactive Items

Recommended Posts

Here is my list of ideas for interactive stronghold decorations.

I'm going to leave out the obvious ones that we've all been asking for:

* Vendors

* Trainers

* Mission terminals

* Training dummies

I'm also leaving out ones that require large system upgrades in addition to decorations:

* Day/night and weather changing decorations

* Wallpaper/floor texture decorations

* Stand-alone mini-games

Here are some other ideas that would make strongholds more useful and attractive to visitors.

Do you have ideas that aren't on the short list above? Please reply and let us know.

Codex Terminal (Floor Medium/Large) --

A computer terminal that brings up all of our unlocked codex entries for easy reading. It could look like Multi-state Mainframe Terminal and display text on the screen, or look like Bounty Terminal and bring up the text in a dialog window.

Guild Announcement Board (Wall Medium/Large) –

A board that shows the guild’s message of the day in large, readable text. If there is no MOTD, it displays a screen similar to Server Monitor.

Guild Welcome Board (Wall Medium/Large) –

A board that displays the guild’s description in large, readable text. If no description is set, it displays a screen similar to Coil Monitor.

Guild Conquest Screen (Wall Large) –

A large display screen that shows the list of conquest planets and which guild currently controls them. If there is no conquest underway, it shows the name and date of the next event.

Event Schedule Screen (Wall Medium/Large) –

A screen that shows the dates of the next Gree, Bounty, and Rakghoul events. It would also show the planet of the current or next Rakghoul outbreak.

Light vs. Dark Monitor (Wall Medium/Large) –

A poster similar to the ones found on Fleet that changes its appearance based on the current state of the Light versus Dark contest.

Stronghold Label Holo Sign (Wall Medium/Large) –

A holographic sign, similar in style to Holo Sign: Drunken Droid, that displays the stronghold’s name.

Slot Machines (Floor Small/Medium Narrow) –

Similar to the Contraband Slot machine. Slot machines in different colors that have a variety of rewards, including faction reputation items, companion gifts, and Cartel Certificates.

Wanted Poster (Wall Medium/Large) –

A Zakuulan wanted poster of the stronghold owner (whichever character is selected for the stronghold’s name). It should show the character’s actual face and reward text.

Cantina Band (Floor Large) –

A raised stage with several cantina band members playing instruments. Once clicked, it would play a continuous loop of the songs, very similar to Jukeboxes.

Conference Table (Floor Large) –

A fancy table surrounded by chairs. When someone clicks on a chair, their character automatically positions itself over that chair and performs one of the sitting emotes. (It is currently difficult to position a character properly to sit in a chair, usually you’re stuck sitting on the front edge.)

Toys (Floor Small/Medium Narrow/Medium) –

A decoration version of all the toys, activating the appropriate emotes and animation when clicked.

Donation Box (Floor Small/Medium Narrow) –

Similar to a cargo hold but accessible by anyone who enters the stronghold. People can use this like a geocache box, leaving fun and interesting items for each other. The stronghold owner can also leave goodies for guests to encourage visitors.

Fireworks Show (Floor Small/Medium Narrow) –

Similar to the current fireworks decoration, but can be purchased for guilds and launches more than one shape/type of firework.

Party Confetti Cannon (Floor Small/Medium Narrow) –

When activated, it shoots confetti in the air, similar to the Contraband Slot Machine, but with more range and quantity. Add a cooldown timer so that it doesn’t get too obnoxious.

Creature Cage (Floor Medium Narrow/Medium) –

A cage or tank containing one or more creatures that react to the presence of the closest person. Fish could swim closer to that side of the tank, a nexu could turn toward them and growl, a rancor could wake up and try to break out, an akk dog could beg for treats, etc.

Sparing Partner [by Class] (Floor Small/Medium Narrow) –

One for each class type. Similar to a training dummy, but this one fights back. He only stays down a short while when defeated and comes back up with full health. He doesn't become hostile until attacked.

Dye Station (Floor Small/Medium Narrow) –

Allows you to preview your current outfit, dyed any of the available colors. It’s up to you to find the dye for sale (perhaps it could sell color changes for credits/CC similar to the appearance mod station).

Red Ball Organ (Floor Medium/Large) –

When clicked, the character sits at the organ and activates it. It plays MIDI musical notes in 4 octaves using the player’s keyboard (3-0, W to O, S to L, and Z to ,) with Shift/Ctrl for Flat/Sharp.

Intra-Stronghold Shuttle (Floor Large/Centerpiece) –

A shuttle that pops up a list of all the strongholds a person has access to, allowing instant and easy travel between them. The list would include their own personal strongholds, guild strongholds they have access to, strongholds they have keys to, and other strongholds owned by the same person as the stronghold they’re currently in (assuming they have access). There's currently no easy way to get these lists and certainly not in one place.

PVP Arena (Centerpiece/Starship) –

Anyone who enters the arena is automatically flagged PVP. Individuals and groups can duel at will.

Party Pinata (Ceiling) –

A glowing piñata of a bantha that can be attacked. Every hit has a 10% chance of making it explode into confetti and candy. Once it explodes, start a cooldown timer so that it doesn’t get annoying. It needs to glow since it’s replacing a light.

Nesting Tree (Floor Medium/Large) --

A large tree with birds in it, making cute noises. When the tree is clicked, the birds fly up into a flock, circle in the sky a couple of times, then land back in the tree.

Wild Sarlacc (Centerpiece/Starship) --

Similar to the Pit of the Sarlacc decoration but slightly larger, without the well and torches. This one would not only have an animated mouth, it would spit out tentacles when clicked, grab people, and either pull them in or toss them aside. (Here's a similar Ominous Pool from LOTRO:

Decorative Lighting Array (Floor Small/Medium Narrow) –

Similar to Scaffold Lighting Array, except that it gives off a significant amount of light and can be turned on/off with a click.

Diagnostic Mainframe (Floor Medium Narrow/Medium) –

Similar to Diagnostic Console (Orbital), (Power), and (Galaxy). When clicked, the console cycles through the different readouts.

Emergency Computer (Floor Medium Narrow/Medium/Large) –

Similar to Computer Station (Emergency), but the monitor doesn’t turn red and flash until clicked.

Holoprojector Droid (Floor Small/Medium Narrow) –

An astromech droid that projects a hologram of someone talking when clicked.

Outdoor B BQ (Floor Medium Narrow/Medium) –

When clicked, a fire lights inside the BBQ and a little smoke comes out.

Temple Brazier (Floor Small/Medium Narrow/Medium) –

Similar to existing braziers, but doesn’t light until clicked.

Street Light (Wall Small/Medium) –

Similar to Republic Wall Sconce, except that it shines a bright white spotlight downward at a slight angle in a cone shape. The cone will allow us to adjust the size of the circle of light on the floor by moving the light higher or lower on the wall. The light needs to shine for a long distance. This can light stairs, highlight statues, illuminate art, and so forth.

Thanks for everyone's input!
