kremzeek Posted March 11, 2017 Share Posted March 11, 2017 (edited) Hey guys and gals, After some 'rejected' tickets i made in game to adres this issue to the dev's i thought i'd make a post here to ask your opinions on the fact that in my opinion there are still too few races to choose from in swtor. Even when playing normal story modes we encounter several species still not accessable to play as.And what makes star wars universe so diverse and interesting? imo the various different species that are in it. small or large .here's a few im sure are in the game already non playable: - Yoda's species - Nautilan - Arcona - Devaronian - Duros - Kaleesh - Kel Dor - Nikto - Weequay - Trandoshan - Rodian - Voss and these are just a few that are in game already as characters through story or adventure modes. i dont understand why these arent yet playable. its not like it is hard to add them in even if there isnt a whole story behind it. or even (speaking as an professional IT specialist) that this is hard to add... these races are just simple bipeds nothing really special (cept maybe the yoda species). maybe you can help to adress this issue with the devs by adding you vote to add at least these or a few of these to the playable race choices. the more votes the better the chances that things could change. Lets make this game even better then it is! whats your favorite species to add? PanVlk Posted March 11, 2017 Share Posted March 11, 2017 (edited) As a "professional IT specialist" you could have realized many of these are simply not possible due to cutscenes and romances. The story is clearly made for humanoids with height of those 4 basic bodytypes, adding a Rodian, Voss, or Yoda species would require reworking all the cutscenes. For many of them there would obviously also be an issue with voice acting and romances. Also, ingame support tickets aren't meant for these far fetched (and discussed to death) suggestions, and neither is this section of the forums. kremzeek Posted March 12, 2017 Author Share Posted March 12, 2017 really? impossible. you mean that its too much work to accomplish? most races can use the same models with just a little change. those changes will be automatically be added to the cutscenes. voiceacting would still be the same as most just speak basic anyway so dont need to change that. you make it seem impossible when it is not my friend. especially when the models already exist with a lot of the races not playable currently. still the more the community talks about changes the more it will be implemented eventually, right? Not all of them are impossible, just a significant number. You can't just plug models in and go "hey, new species" You have a significant amount of art/tech art etc work to have a decent number of customization options. In short the requirements for new species are: Must use the humanoid body types. So Nautolan is good, Yoda's species and Trandoshan are not. (Nautolan are the most likely to be the next new species if we do get more in the future, as they seem to be following an old poll they did years back that put Cathar at #1, Togruta at #2 and Nautolan at #3). This is to ensure cutscenes, animations, armour etc work correctly. Must speak basic Must be romanceable by existing romanceable (that is, humanoid) companions Of course an IT specialist such as yourself would likely have read the sticky on this forum to know this is the wrong location for it and used the search function to find all the other discussions on this very issue...
