Darthbaconis
I'm not really huge on star wars lore so I really don't know how powerful Mace Windu is, and I feel like this is a perfect place to ask this question. So if Anakin never got involved could make windu have killed palpatine?
BlazeTomahawk
No . Palpatine one knew anakin was coming and it was all part of his plan to turn him. Sheev kicked yodas *** on the senate floor, windu was no problem. Remember that Palpatine was one of the strongest Sith ever. He took out the others who came with windu in seconds Edited July 12, 2016 by BlazeTomahawk
CaulderBenson
Only the Chosen One could destroy the Sith.Whether Anakin was there or not, Mace Windu was never leaving that office alive. Once Sidious began using the force, Mace was dead.
Classicuseximus
I don't think so. It seemed that Palpatine wanted to appear helpless in front of Anakin to give him that extra push to turn to the dark side. I think Palpatine lost purposely to Windu to make it appear as if the Jedi were forcefully removing him from office without a fair trial (which they were). myrdinn
Probably... but it would have been irrelevant. Anakin was already corrupted. Even if Windu had killed Palpatine, when Anakin found out, he would have purged the Jedi (because of the fears on his wife's death) anyway. By the time Windu and Sidious had their throw down, most of what would have happened next only vary in the details, not the theme of what was to come. The corrective moment was actually two years prior from more than one point: 1. Being relaxed enough to support the marriage between Anakin and Padme. -and/or- 2. Not forcing Ashoka out, knighting her, and recognizing Anakin as a Jedi Master upon her completion of the Knight Trials. Either would have been a saving throw. But, since both were blocked (gee, thanks Palpy) and manipulated away, the setpiece was in. No matter who won that fight, the next step would always be Anakin purging the Jedi (and his death would end the Sith legacy). Note: be glad Windu lost. Otherwise... without the Emperor, Luke and Vader wouldn't have had someone to unite against (and Vander wouldn't have had a redemptive motive). Corrupted Anakin Skywalker without SIdious would have ended Luke and/or Leia.
