Meaning of cartel icons on items

Hello,

 

I'm returning to the game after a long absence and am confused by what the different colored cartel icons on each of the items means. I purchased a pack and opened it. Some items have white cartel icons on them with a timer, others are orange with a timer. I understand what the timer is for, it says it plainly. But what are the different colors for?

The "quality", rarity, of the item. Bronze, Silver, Gold.

Also platinum for the super rare stuff.

So:

* Dull orange-brown = Bronze = common

* Light grey = Silver = not as common

* Glowing yellow = Gold = rare or rarer

* Bright glowing white = Platinum(1) = even rarer than that.

 

(1) In reality, platinum jewellery is rare not because platinum is rare (although it is) but because it looks a lot like silver, so how can people tell you are wearing *platinum* stuff instead of silver?
