My first post on what I absolutely hate

I hate my characters being hijacked into the expansions when all I want to do is turn in supply crates. Why can't we just push the button if we want the expansion? Why do you kidnap us into it like that. It's awful and I hate being forced to do an expansion when I'm not ready, and I've done it a dozen times on alts.

Yeah I agree. I do get tired of every time I go to Odessen it starts playing it.

While it is annoying, if you travel to the specific contacts to turn in crates, it won't trigger the chapter, at least as far as my experience has gone anyway.

For some people that works but not for most. Thats how i used to bypass it but the chapter 12 release messed that up for me.

Happend to me plenty of times, so far a quick press on the Esc button solved it...so far.

It always brings me into the corridor before the elevator leading down to the alliance alert command room something.

No big deal but I agree it is annoying if you want to do something on Odessen with an "open" chapter to play.

And it sets you back at the entrance to the base.

Really for now it's the only way. Either that or play the chapters. Does Bioware really have to pander to every single minute bit of convenience? It's literally taking an elevator and speedering to the alliance member. It will take 2 minutes. They have a lot of large bugs and fixes to do.

However, I DO agree that it'd be nice that you only play chapters when pressing the purple 'play' button.

Realistically though: It's not a priority.

Sometimes it sets me in front of the contact I was teleporting to, sometimes I land at the entrance. But yeah, while the work around isn't that hard, it is increasingly getting on my nerves as well.

Just press escape, it exits the convo.

Since 4.5 [ESC] has been working for me as well.

That is exiting the chapter autostart while remaining inside your alliance headquarters for returning supply crates.

It's probably because there aren't supposed to be an alliance, let alone specialists until Ch. 9 of kotfe. If I'm understanding the issue right. I'd also be wary that they don't later consider circumventing the expansion to be an exploit of some kind.

You are way off. You can't turn crates till after you complete Ch 9. You get a red barrier before Ch 9 at the entrance of alliance base. The issue is that after Ch 10 when you enter the base it auto-starts the next Chapter.

Wrong. You either play the chapters or or dont go into the base there are no other options.

Its not even an inconvenience its either or.

Not sure where you are getting your info but it is completely incorrect

I've gone to Odessen (Chapter 10 and on-- when it automatically starts when trying to turn in crates) pressed Esc. and I was still in the base and or placed at the entrance (It's either or) took the elevator, speedered to my member and turned in my crates.

What part of that is incorrect?

You don't have to play the whole chapter.

Spacebar through the first bit so the start is done, then you can port in and out at your convenience, and not ever get it popping up.

I start the chapter, then fast travel to my stronghold and don't finish the chapter. Then I can go to Odessan whenever I like with out being interrupted.

Apparently it works for you. But to say thats the work around is a false statement because the bug affects to many people and is random. I personaly had no issues until chapt 12 launched now i do as well as many others.

Yep! It's all a matter of exiting the story, it'll just pause on the mission "Speak to Lana at the War Table" or whatever the heck it says. Solved. Don't even have to spacebar through the conversation.

When you quicktravel to an alliance member and it starts the chapter.. (It has in my case more than once) have you TRIED pressing escape? It just exits the conversation. You have to wait just after it says Chapter X: Anarchy in Paradise (or whatever it is that you're on) then you exit like you can in any cinematic and the NPC is there with a mission marker above their head at the war table.

Yes. That is how i managed for chapters 10 and 11. I have also tried the space bar and porting to a strong hold no dice.

The only possible option would be to play half way through a chapter and then stop progressing in the chapter, but that kind of defeats the purpose of waiting to play it.

I think on the Disavowed chapter, it put the Play marker on it when I ported back to my stronghold after having talked to Theron. When I hit the play button it took me to the entrance to talk to Aric, and I just went from there.

In your case it is a bug, I thought you meant that what I was suggesting worked for no one. I have not experienced the bug in your case. That would super get on my nerves. I would try putting in a ticket. Really generic advice but since I haven't experienced such a bug I don't have a possible workaround.

Why did they even put it in since it's so useless? It's no big deal to start a chapter at a terminal.

You're correct. It's no big deal to go to our player ships and start it at the same terminal we picked Chapter 1 up at.

However, I speculate that it was another matter of convenience.

Like, why make them go back to their ships if we can just have them press play in their mission log!

But let's make it so if they need to go to Odessen when a new chapter drops that it starts automatically.

Poor planning, mostly epsecially since the recent QOL improvements include more legacy perks for player ships.
