... even though that's not the case with the game.

 

The launcher has been telling me the login service is currently unavailable for two days. All my googling just seemed to mess up the launcher more so I did a fresh reinstall. Still telling me the login service is unavailable. Is there a current fix for this?

Can you ping launchpad.swtor.com ? if it doesnt respond it maybe a net routing issue

 

ensure launcher.exe is in the antivirus and firewall exception lists

 

ESET - disable "protocol filtering"

Kaperskey - disable "scan secure/encrypted connections"

Norton (Firewall) - set exceptions to "Allow" not "Auto"

AVG - disable link scanner surf-shield

I checked and I do ping to launchpad.swtor.com and I also attempted to log in after adding launcher.exe to firewall and avast and turning both off. I'm still getting the same message. Thanks though.

This is usually antivirus caused but given avast not aware of major issues, see this example for -134 listed, in that instance was kaperskey

 

Try a password reset - https://account.swtor.com/user/password/recover

 

Do you have a security key ? maybe remove that first

 

If you see a patch folder in the game installation folder when the launcher is closed delete it.

 

Check the date and time are correct on the system

I disabled avast, removed my security key and changed my password. I'm still getting login service unavailable. I don't have karsparkey (spelling?) and I never have so I don't what else -134 is telling me.

Restarted your router/modem ? does it have a firewall ?

 

windows defender used as a firewall on the PC ? remove and re-add exception for launcher.exe and ensure it is ticked for public and private networks

 

will have a think on what else may cause this error

 

Is the new launcher appearing or is it the old style launcher ?

I rebooted both the modem and router after this started happened. I have windows defender turned off. I am right now getting the new launcher, but after I failed to fix it myself I was getting the old launcher until I uninstalled. The old launcher style was still telling me that Login service is unavailable.

 

This is getting frustrating.

As a test try using http://www.hotspotshield.com , this is a VPN and see if if the launcher works ok with it.

 

it is free with ads so be prepared to see ads with it, simply uninstall it after testing , this is to help see if there is some net issue actually occuring.

 

but if the ping gets there it should be OK unless there is a port block occurring.
