Falensawino
Disney is having a real hard time honoring May The Fourth when it comes to releasing Star Wars movies during May. Before being sold to Disney, Lucasfilm always released Star Wars movies in May. Yet another Saga film made by Disney postponed to December. Rumor was that Disney didn't want Force Awakens box office sales to compete with their May 2015 release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. A 30 year tradition was broken to make room for Avengers... starwars.com/news/star-wars-episode-viii-to-open-december-15-2017 List of all Theatrical release dates ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars#Theatrical_films ) Original Trilogy Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope May 25, 1977 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back May 21, 1980 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi May 25, 1983 Prequel trilogy Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace May 19, 1999 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones May 16, 2002 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith May 19, 2005 Sequel trilogy Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens December 18, 2015 Star Wars Episode VIII December 15, 2017 Star Wars Episode IX 2019 The Untitled Han Solo Anthology film may be the first Disney Star Wars film to release in May. Anthology films Rogue One: A Star Wars Story December 16, 2016 Untitled Han Solo film May 25, 2018 Untitled Boba Fett film 2020 No reason was given as to why another Star Wars movie got shifted around, but if you look at release dates for future Marvel Comics movies (also owned by Disney) it leaves little room to wonder. Captain America: Civil War May 6, 2016 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 May 5, 2017 Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 May 4, 2018 Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 May 3, 2019 At this point, the entire sequel trilogy should release in December. Please, stop with the combo breakers. For future trilogies if Disney picks months other than May or December, I'll throw a Kylo sithy fit.
