Returning player - Bounty Hunter or Trooper?

Hello all,

Well I've been looking at the game over the last couple of months and decided to give the it a try. I've played a bit over the last few years, but never made much progress in the game and I'm not sure why. I never seem to find a class that I enjoy playing.

Almost all the games I've played my choice of class/character has always been ranged based. I like standing at the back to do my thing I guess! Am I making the right choice when it comes to the Bounty Hunter or the Trooper? Is one "better" then the other? Also, I like a class that doesn't have long rotations and is an easy class to learn/understand.

Does anyone have some wise words of advice please?

Many thanks

First and foremost;

In games such as these, the term "better" never applies when it comes to choice of playstyles.

The classes are balanced (for the most part, I'm sure some people might reply and start throwing the term "nerf" around due to class changes in latest patches), but it really all comes down to your personal preference.

I tend to enjoy the roleplay more and play my picked class to the best of its abilities in function of roleplay.

(for example, I picked a Light Sided Jedi Consular, and went with Shadow & Serenity, I figured Serenity to fit most with a purely Light Side Jedi Consular)

I have both a maxed out Bounty Hunter and currently on a roll with a Trooper, I must say that for me - personally - , I prefered Bounty Hunter, Mercenary and Arsenal specialisation.

It tends to be a very mobile and fast ranged class.

But again, I also do enjoy the Trooper (Commando - Gunnery specialisation), but for some reason I have the idea the BH is alot more maneuverable.

Both specialisations are considered very easy to learn and work well in a PvE context.

Hopefully this was helpful.

Thank you for the replies.

One quick question! Is the Red Eclipse still a good choice for players from the EU? With a subscription, does it still award bonus Cartel Coins?

Again it depends on which play style you wish to adopt, seeing Red Eclipse is mixed PvE- RP with a standard sized population, it's a safe bet.

Mine are located on the Progenitor, RP server, also with standard population, if you're aimed more towards RP (generally there - should - be more mature players on those servers but since the recent influx of new players, I found that isn't always the case... running into players with names like "Rey'Sexy" doesn't help), that should be a good choice.

Cartel Coins are still awarded monthly with a subscription (500CC), plus 100CC is you attach a security key.

Hi again,

The Bounty Hunter is the class I decided to play!

Thanks again everyone!

I just want to say that these are, for all intents and purposes, the same class.

The differences come in story and animations.

The BH will fly up and spray missiles down in an area for their death from above, but the trooper covers an area with explosive rounds and they are mechanically identical. Death from above isn't "better" in any measurable way. It's just a matter of personal preference.

The looks are different, but if you buy cartel market armor then you can make that the same, too.

It's just a question of whether you want to play the Republic or Imperial side.

If you like the BH then great, but if you like the way the BH plays but maybe don't like the story so much? Trooper offers all the same mechanics with a different story.

Welcome to the game :)

I have played both classes and enjoy them both but the bounty hunter just feels more fun to me due to the atmosphere of the role. I'd suggest you play one through and then the other, you won't regret it.
