Fleurdelis
I wanted to update this original thread http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=829083 but it is in the read only customer service forum now, which is a bad thing. I finally got the laptop working again. The problem is my switchable graphics after updating to windows 10 set the game to run in HIGH PERFORMANCE. Seems the game doesn't like that. I changed the settings to POWER SAVINGS. This fixed the issue and all is well. Had a lot of updates and patches since I last used the laptop to play the game however. So if anyone else has this issue try what I did to fix the problem.
OwenBrooks
In my view this isn't a fix , running in powersave the game will run like a dog as the hardware is nerfed, this is likely a driver issue somehow make a thread here and attach a dxdiag per here and can revisit this again on current details Edited January 17, 2016 by OwenBrooks

My solution worked, not sure why but it did and I suggest it for other users.
OwenBrooks
Would like to see a fresh one, setting to powersave is not a solution, it is either a driver issue or hardware is faulty
