Absorb is for absorbing energy. Whats with Force barrier, Protection bubble, Force protection and Force defend? What exactly do you mean with absorbing energy? Force Barrier: What Sorcs do when they are about to die. Force Protection: Basically think of it like a force user putting on a suit of super armor made of force energy. Its a bit of Both.Some probably liked to focus on one and it became their staple learning them all won't hurt you it will probably help you.in the end so pick two be happy.
