Strive-US Posted November 7, 2015 Share Posted November 7, 2015 I feel that when it comes to the top Jedi, Mace Windu and Yoda tend to pull rank and score above Obi-Wan. But Obi-Wan seems to have more accomplishments. He was in the thick of it during the Clone Wars and not just sitting around the council table. He defeated Maul, Grievous, and the turned Anakin. In universe he was one of the few confirmed High Jedi General, as well as short of being a living legend: Say what you will about the wisdom of ancient Master Yoda, or the deadly skill of grim Mace Windu, the courage of Ki-Adi-Mundi, or the subtle wiles of Shaak Ti; the greatness of all these Jedi is unquestioned, but it pales next to the legend that has grown around Kenobi and Skywalker. They stand alone. Together, they are unstoppable. Unbeatable. They are the ultimate go-to guys of the Jedi Order. When the Good Guys absolutely, positively have to win, the call goes out. Obi-Wan and Anakin always answer. —Revenge of the Sith Out of universe it's probably because he is not "cool" like most characters the wankers hype all the time. PadsterPwns Posted November 7, 2015 Share Posted November 7, 2015 I do feel that, out of universe, Obi-Wan is under appreciated but Mace and Yoda have done something rare to get their status: Beat/Stalemate RotS Darth Sidious. Now contending with a serious Sidious is an achievement anyway, but stalemating/beating him? That is a fantastic feat. In fact it's probably Yoda's best collective feat considering that he was as fast (if not faster than Sids), was likely a better duelist (IIRC he disarms Sids) and was relatively equal to him in the Force. Remember that was a 200 years past his prime weakened Yoda so if it had been prime Yoda he (IMO) likely would have won. For Mace he legitimately beat Sidious in a duel, though he was amped. Add on the fact that he created a lightsaber form, one made for fighting dark side users, and that in the PT era he is second only to Yoda and Sids and the only rival of Dooku it becomes clear why he his hyped as much as he is. TL;DR While Kenobi is under appreciated OOU (seriously he's the best Soresu practitioner in galactic history), both Yoda and Mace have feats that give reason for why they're held above him, especially as Yoda would flat out stomp him and Mace would contend well with him (IMO Kenobi could take Mace in a fight, not 10/10 or even 5/10 but still). Reportedly he's being heavily considered for a spinoff movie, he starred in the Clone Wars cartoon, he's been explored in novels and comics, and he won the most popular character poll on Starwars.com beating out both Yoda and Vader. Message board VS threads tend to overlook Obi-Wan due to the nature of those topics and the types of posters who frequent them; but honestly who cares about that? In-universe Obi-Wan is one of the most accomplished and important characters in the mythos. He's the one of the two most important characters in the prequels, the other being Anakin.
