Slot mahchine

The devs have been aware of this since yesterday. The lack of a dev response, no removal of threads talking about it, and/or no announcement of an emergency maintenance tells me that the devs think this is WAI and does not require fixing.

As multiple people pointed out already:

  • Mats prices have been way too overpriced ever since conquest launched and need to be brought down again. A level 30 player should not be expected to pay 2k credits for a single green Grade 3 material.
  • This does not generate free money, in fact it removes money. While you get credits from selling the rep tokens, you lose many more credits from buying the chips. And when selling something on the GTN, you only get money from other players, not from the game, in fact the GTN takes a tax cut. E.g. I myself have already spent 3 million credits on casino chips today, and I'm sure many players have done the same.

So if anything, the slot machines have reduced inflation, which is always a good thing in an MMO. I agree that the price of the casino chips needs to be increased 5x to tenfold to bring it in line with other game activities like sending pets on crew skills, but this is not an urgent fix.

If the machine stays the way it is now, it wont take long and it will be massive used from asian credit farmers. at that end point, mats will be more or less worthless. I am not sure if it is a good idea to ruin a complete part of the game.

You're contradicting yourself there. There would be no point for them because the price is already dropping

There is a lot of profit to make and the effort to get there is very low. In the END they will be worthless, but now there is a lot of cash to make. Its the same with new slicing spots out in the world. they get abused very fast until BW makes changes to them.

like I added in my previous post, price is already dropping (at least on my server) so those few days won't cover the initial investment. For a farmer to make efficient use they first would need to get their hands on a slot machine, that's either by CC or credits.

Then they need to buy the tokens... granted, on the whole that might be the least investment... and then you've got to try and get the stuff you harvest, sold... since everyone realizes the bottom is going to drop, most sensible folks will hold off from buying at higher prices...ergo, the effort doesn't weigh up to the potential gain...

yea thats why so few peoples are doing it right now, because the effort is not worth the gain.

I can finally get enough purple crafting items to actually make some of the purple consumables, like the new armor dyes and I can make purple quality medpacks, adrenals, and stims at high enough levels to be useful, I can even consider crafting the new Tri-Color crystals.

Too bad so sad for the basement dwellers who could run missions 20 hours a day that they can't make as much off the GTN anymore.

You also need to take into consideration a lot of us who have been doing conquest since the start, have continued to save up tons and tons of jawa scrap from placement on the leaderboards or just hitting our personal goals. If I wanted to I could flood the market with adaptive circuitry on the ebon hawk that would crash the market because 3 jawa per would easily allow me to drop 700 units on the market and that doesn't count people who bough hyper-crates and got the jawa pieces as well. The culprit really isn't the new slot machine which does change the system, but the months of hoarding people have done.

The worst issue, is you can install a program that does the clicking for you and you go watch a movie while it does it for you. Now according to the agreement we all accept (most never read it) using a macro is against the rules but is a program that clicks for you over and over again a cheat? I remember you could use a clicking program to get the hutt ball before anyone else before you where even in range and no one got smacked around, so is this a same issue?

This technically affects the game I would think more then a armor token and a few purple mats from ravangers as now whole economy's have gone into ruin (hey cheaper mats for me and the GTN to do conquest)?

Are you saying that they would do something like that?

I mean

- Buy chips (credit sink)

- Use slot machine to get jawa scrap stuff

- Sell mats on GTN (doesn't generate credits, just moves credits and stuff around + very small credit sink)

- Repeat

I'm not expert on this subject but... umm... Isn't that exactly opposite what "credit farming" means?

Why does it matter for professional farmers if they get the credits from players or from the system ? Profit is profit.

Maybe farming is not the right word here, credit gaining might be better.
