Forever Alderaan Copyright © 2014 Kevin Robinson A bird sings deep in Alderaan, through a tunnel in the ridge I often start to listen as I cross a nearby bridge But every time I hear her, and stop to take it in The silence jars my senses, and so I must begin To carry on my journey, bereft of that reprise A song that will not finish, and a bird not for the eyes There is a lesson here, I think, a cautionary tale Those wonders most ethereal, so fleeting through the veil Were never meant for capture, nor created to remain Instead they are a glistening glimpse, a spiritual refrain Reminding us of richer tones, of feelings one might seek But if they were discovered, could never bear critique For here inside of space and time, where things begin and end We have no frame of reference for a life that might transcend Expect, perhaps, that briefest song we almost think we hear That lingers in our memory though it’s quick to disappear Someday, perhaps, we’ll go there, a land that’s just beyond Where melodies and mountains mix, forever Alderaan
