An Idea for a Han And Lando Film

I think it would be really cool if Disney hired someone like Quentin Tarantino to do a origins film of Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. It would be like the old buddy cop films i.e. Lethal Weapon. The film could also have a 1970s film grain to give it an older look. Characters that could also be included are Chewbacca, Aurra Sing, and Boba Fett.

 

For Lando’s back story he could be the rich young son of a wealthy business tycoon. He was recently disowned by his father and all his bank accounts cut off. Now Lando is looking for a way to strike it rich quick to maintain his lavish lifestyle. His plan is to break into one of his fathers banks and steal the money from the vault. For this plan to succeed he will need a crew of talented individuals. The first place he looks is a wealthy crime lord Jabba the Hutt.

 

For Han Solo’s back story he could be recently kicked out of the imperial academy for interfering with imperial slave acquisitions with the Trandoshans. Han rescued Chewbacca from one of his classmates beating him. Han’s motivation is that he remembers his childhood when his cousin Thrackan would get drunk and try to beat him. Chewbacca swears a life debt to Han, but Han is reluctant to have a wookie following him around. Mostly Han can’t speak Shyriiwook. Chewbacca becomes a mentor for the young solo and teaches him Shyriiwook and how to survive on his own. Han and Chewbacca run into Aurra Sing who tells them to go work for Jabba the Hutt. Jabba employes Han as a smuggler for his spices and gives him a cheap freighter.

 

For Jabba’s motivation for working with Lando is that a data tape containing incriminating information on his financial transactions was seized by imperial intelligence and stored in the vault run by Lando’s father. Jabba agrees to finance Lando and teams him up with Aurra, Han, and Chewbacca. Jabba send Boba unbeknownst the the others as back up.

 

Han and Lando interactions with each other would be the center of the movie. Both come from completely different lifestyles. Han’s humble beginnings would constantly make him question Landos actions for extravagance. Early on in the film Han will try to get Lando off his ship as he sees him as a risk to the job. the reason for this is that Lando will constantly be making fun of Han’s impoverished upbringings, buying expensive food and drink and acting in a boisterous manure, and constantly drawing attention to himself by flirting with women openly. Eventually, the two can have a moment of reconciliation when they realize that despite their different upbringings they share a lot in common.

 

For Aurra Sing, she could be a subplot in the film by pretending to be Lando’s girlfriend, but secretly she has heard rumors about her former mentor “The Dark Woman”. She will be using Lando to get access to imperial to imperial intelligence so that she may find her mentor and kill her.

 

For Boba Fett, he could be a cameo. He can appear during scenes such as Han and Lando First meeting together in Jabba’s palace and Jabba giving them their job to go steal the data tape. boba can appear at the end of the movie. and take the data tape from the vault himself leaving a fake for Han and Lando to find. Boba will have no dialogue so as to appear more mysterious.

 

The final scene of the movie can be Han and Lando racing through an imperial blockade which will be lead by Han’s former classmate. The former class mate will recognize that it Han Solo and make it his personal mission to kill Han. That way there can be lots of tension fueled moments as the heist is on to breach the bank’s vault That way there can be lots of tension fueled moments as the heist is on. Aurra Sing can then betray Han and Lando at a critical moment as she steals the fake data tape from them believing it contains the information about the dark woman. the film could end with Han and Lando chasing Aurra Sing stealing the data tape back and bringing it to Jabba. Jabba then could have Bobba destroy the fake datatape in front of Han and Lando and tell them good job and give them their payment. Han and Lando will be both surprised by this turn of events but head to a local cantina and celebrate.
