SWTOR Bigger Better Exploration

“Standing at the taxi in Anchorhead looking out onto the desert wondering whats out there, grabing the binoculars and scanning the horizon something shiney catch the eye, gotha go check that out could be something interesting, maybe even valuable or maybe dangerous who knows”

My intro. LOL but seriously this is something u guys should definitely DO!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Fristly for exploration purposes make the NEW unexplored region, for example of tatoonie MASSIVE, im talking seriously HUGE that it would take u a couple of hours to cross, literally a whole planet, no other game has done this before. (Im taking tatoonie as my example because I like Tatoonie and its very iconic Star Wars)

2. So u take the taxi in Anchorhead to an outpost/ trading post, to start exploring the NEW unexplored region. OR quick travel once more travel points have been discovered (therefore quick travel should have no timer PLEASE)

3. Now I understand both Reps. & Imps. Need there own starting points of coarse. The map can be divided with mountain ranges and or canyons, with some places to cross over, big enough so that ganking is limited (although ganking can be fun in the same breath also annoying).

4. Now as u start to explore u can use your binoculars to scan the horizon for:

* Outposts [with taxi links]

*Trading Posts [with taxi links]

*Small settlements

*Medium settlements

*Large settlements

*Small, medium & large towns

*Small, medium & large cities

*Small, medium & large underground complexes

*Mountain side dwellings, just like in game on Tatoonie

* A home just like your ship

*A hotel, can rent out rooms for credits

*Warehouse with office, can rent out extra storage

*Underground bunker

*A complex, can rent out flats for credits

*Moisure farms

*Jawa encampment – just like the one outside Anchorhead (can also serve as droid part manufacturing)

*Abandoned sand crawler (As a new home or hideout)

*Crashed spaceship (As a new home or hideout)

*Abandoned mine

*Sand people encampment

*Guild owned fortresses

*Lookout tower

*A single dwelling in the middle of the “Dune Sea” eg. Obi Wans house

*A road house in the middle of no where

*A Settlement near an oasis

*Dewback farm

Now in all of the above mention, players can rent/let properties with CARTEL COINS mounthly. These properties will include the below mentioned :

*Cybertech workshop/ shop front, were you can actually see mechanics building swoop races and mounts, plus all the other cybertech stuff. These mounts will have special properties such as increased speed to travel distances quicker and maybe even flying mounts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Armtech factory/ shop front to construct weapons of all sorts(without having to have crew skill).

*Armormech factory/ shop front

*Synthweaving factory/ shop front

*Biochem lab/ shop front

*Underworld trading renting a cantina, underground hide or gambling hall, here a player will receive stuff daily automatically as if doing missons, plus can put bounties on players of opposite faction. All players can do this at these premise. The player/target will show up on the world map as a ping and can be tracked that way.

*Diplomacy renting a lab, here a player will receive stuff daily automatically as if doing missons

*Treasure hunting renting a traderpost, here a player will receive stuff daily automatically as if doing missons

*Investigation renting a research facility, here a player will receive stuff daily automatically as if doing missons

*Slicing renting a bank or money exchange, here a player will receive stuff daily automatically as if doing missons

So now with all of these properties, players will earn X amount of credits per day, week or month as a bonus. From passing or local NPS

5. Now leaving the towns and continuing to explore u can use your binoculars to scan the horizon for:

*Crash sites/abandon salavage site for scavenging – Salvaging license

*Archeological dig sites for archeology - Archeological dig site agreement/lease

*Farms for propagating bioanalysis – Farming rights

*Mines for Artifice – Mining rights

For the above mentioned - giving u random amount and quantity of crafting materials per day, week or month. The crash sites/abandon salvage site will cost X amount of CARTEL COINS monthly for a salvage license but u can specify which crafting material u want with a PREIUM CARTEL COINS PACKAGE. Plus the sites also makes you credits selling to NPC, which are local traders.(Players do not need relevant crew skills to obtain slavage license)

6. Secondary Professions

*Explorer – Can explore new regions and map those regions, to be sold on the GTN

*Furniture maker – Can make furniture to sell for rental properties and only be sold on planet

*Vehicle manufacturer – Watch as your crew manufactuer vehicles (speeders of all types)

*Starship manufacturer – Watch as your crew manufactuer starships with the help of hired NPC (seeing the ship being completed in stages)

*Trader – Selling stuff to NPC eg. Water from moisture farms to towns or settlements or collecting stuff like rare spices found on the planet and selling it to NPC on Alderaan because nobles like exotic spices or collecting food and selling it to dewback tamers/ herders

*Beast tamer/ herder – eg. Dewback farm, rasing from young to sell on GTN

7.PVP

*Let the whole world be PVP with no safe areas, with the exception of GTN/ Banking and mail areas, it would be so cool if you could ambush a player in the middle of a big town but watch out for town guards.

*Guilds/ players could fight over large/ huge fortresses and also gain control over regions by occupying strategic outposts/ beacons/ waypoints therefore gaining credits & other bonues.

*Vehicles for PVP Please!

*Manning Turrets on fortress and other structures.

*Even gaining control over towns and cities.( possible faction restrictions)

*Putting a bounty on another player and then that player gives off a tracking beacon so he or she can be tracked down and eliminated. This can be done at a cantina throw a notice board.

8. PVE

*You can pick up missions/ quests all over the new unexplored regions

*HCs can also be done

*Another idea is to have chain quests, to encourage players to discover new areas/ regions

*All missions/ quests are repeatable, with no waiting time, so if a player wishes to do it a 100 times let them this will also help with resource collecting in a way

*Have a notice board in towns/ settlements etc. so that players can post missions/ quests for example collecting resources for that player etc.

*Attacking and raiding NPC caravans throughout the planet ( could be a group thing)

#1:

Who is this "u" you are speaking of and what does he/she have to do with your idea?

#2:

7.PVP

*Let the whole world be PVP with no safe areas, with the exception of GTN/ Banking and mail areas, it would be so cool if you could ambush a player in the middle of a big town but watch out for town guards.

Leave that mechanic to PvP-servers please. There is a reason why there is such a difference in server types.

#3:

Most people do not want to spend an hour just traveling. Heck, a whole lot of people do even see 5 minutes of travel as too long. There are even players, who desire to get rid of all taxi flight, making it insta-teleport instead.

#4:

Paying a RENT in an MMO was tried with several games... Runes of Magic and SWG for example did that. Neither was so bold however to ask for REAL WORLD money for paying a rent and as such I see the idea of spending cartel coins as a monthly rent as somewhere between bad and ugly.

Actually, this sounds pretty cool. I used to think taxis were annoying, but exploring this thing he is describing in a guild expedition would be fun, I think. As long as it is not just open space but has stuff to do, but takes a little time to get to, I think it would be fun.

You mean like they did in SWG? That was supposed to be whole planets.

I disagree. QT should keep its timer. By all means, have more QT points in the explorable area, but don't remove the cooldown on it completely.

4. Now as u start to explore u can use your binoculars to scan the horizon for:

* Outposts [with taxi links]

*Trading Posts [with taxi links]

Nice idea.

Bad idea. You are effectively making everyonee else's crew skills obsolete. Gathering/mission skills, maybe, but definitely not craft skills.

Again, you are trying to bypass the crew skills system. Not a good idea. The way they have crew skills now works.

6. Secondary Professions

*Explorer – Can explore new regions and map those regions, to be sold on the GTN

*Furniture maker – Can make furniture to sell for rental properties and only be sold on planet

*Beast tamer/ herder – eg. Dewback farm, rasing from young to sell on GTN

Yeah, I could support these secondary professions, although vehicle and starship parts are already covered by Cybertech.

7.PVP

*Let the whole world be PVP with no safe areas, with the exception of GTN/ Banking and mail areas, it would be so cool if you could ambush a player in the middle of a big town but watch out for town guards.

*Putting a bounty on another player and then that player gives off a tracking beacon so he or she can be tracked down and eliminated. This can be done at a cantina throw a notice board.

On PvP only servers please. Although, I will admit having a truly contested zone could be loads of fun.

8. PVE

*You can pick up missions/ quests all over the new unexplored regions

Not a bad idea, although I don't know how easy it would be to implement a system allowing us to create our own missions.
