I've just noticed that one of these particular sets is on sale i'm just curious to know that if I purchase it and use it on one character will I be able to use it on my alts with the collection system?

The answer would be "yes, but..."

 

 

If you buy an armor set from the CM, you just buy it for that single char of yours.

It also will be bound on pickup on that char, so you cannot send it to alts via mail. You could just use it on a companion.

 

But luckily, you can use the collection-feature. With that you can unlock the already bought armor set for your whole legacy, all currently existing and future alts.

 

To do that, open your collection (the button on the lower left of your inventory for example) and look for the entry to your armor set.

That picture of the set should be highlighted, with 2 or 3 little symbols in the corners.

On the lower left corner there should be a button showing a little crate with two arrows at the sides. By clicking that you can transfer a copy of the whole set to your inventory, completely free of charge, but also bound on pickup.

 

If you log on to an alt and look at the same place in the collection window, there will be a CartelCoin-sign instead of the little crate.

Clicking that opens a confirmation window in which you are ask if you want to unlock that set for your whole legacy.

That will cost you additional CCs, but far less than if you would buy that set from the CM again.

 

If you do not want to spend more coins, you should buy the set with the char that you want to use the set with. Then only he will get to use it, but you only have to spend the normal price for it.

Thank you for the introduction to collections. Just one clarification, if you buy a set with one char and if you not use it at all, you can - after some hours - send it to everybody, your other toons or even sell in in the GTN.

Another detail is that you have to put the entire set of whatever it is on the same person for it to be highlighted on the collections screen.

 

In other words, say you buy the Clandestine Armor Set. But you decide that your character is going to wear everything but the belt so you give the belt to your companion and never equip it onto your character. If you do that, it won't be "collected." The easy fix for that would be to just put it onto your character for a moment, take it off, and then, give it to your companion because, as I said, if you don't put it onto your character first, it won't be "collected."

 

So, basically, either you, or one of your companions has to put on the whole outfit first. It doesn't have to be longer then a second, but it does indeed have to be on them at least once for it to highlight on your collections screen.
