Here is what companion gifts in inventory look like when you mount up (your companion goes away): http://imageshack.us/a/img545/8948/s97b.jpg As you can see, the display shows I can use them even though I can't. However, look what happens when I dismount (my companion comes back): http://imageshack.us/a/img841/4216/yacb.jpg They are now all grayed out showing I can't use them (even though my companion is out). I CAN use them, and the gray out disappears if I move them to a different inventory spot but they shouldn't be grayed out here in the first place.
