GhostDrone
Confirmed not III http://www.jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=12187 Well... “There are absolutely things in the previous Battlefront games that you’ll recognize and remember, but DICE wants to put its own flavor on it. That’s the only way we can do it.” Took a bit of a load off of my chest. I'm hoping this means the majority of the old mechanics return in some way. GhostDrone
Oh! Found a new article from IGN. This made my worries collapse even more. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/13/e3-2013-star-wars-battlefront-wont-be-a-battlefield-game "We don't want Star Wars plus Battlefield," said Bach, "because that would be boring, right?" DICE seemed like the obvious choice to revive the much-troubled Battlefront franchise. Fans weren't the only ones who wanted it. Bach says that "LucasArts wanted us to build a Battlefront game." Ok, i gotta admit, this is a somewhat huge relief. Let's hope this is true. Edited June 14, 2013 by GhostDrone

Beniboybling
Confirmed not III http://www.jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=12187Can't say I'm surprised. DICE/EA simply want to establish Battlefront as their own IP so they are free to do with it as they please i.e. DLC and sequels released every year. Ah well, you can't expect it to be all sunshine and rainbows. At least DICE seem dedicated the providing the BF experience the fans are asking for. I can put up with the trash from EA. spectreclees
Well... Took a bit of a load off of my chest. I'm hoping this means the majority of the old mechanics return in some way. Just give me classic Battlefront with updated graphics and gameplay. I don't want this to turn into Battlefield. Though some things from it would be nice. If they make it mandatory to have things like Air Strikes and all this other crap I might be turned off. Darth_Precursor
So long as Galactic Conquest and Instant Action are in the game, I really don't care if it is a "reboot" of the series. I don't want it to be a rehash of Battlefield with the Campaign, co-op, and multiplayer and that be the end of it. This. Well said.
GhostDrone
I am suddenly insanely nostalgic. Reinstalled Battlefront 2, the Conversion Pack and Battlefront Extreme.
MistressOfMetal
Okay, so it's not Star Wars: Battlefront III....what's the big deal here? In any case, if it looks good, I'll buy it, if it doesn't, I'll probably buy it anyway so I can nerd out.

Air Strikes? that's not battlefield 3, that's stale CoD MW. Battlefront is going to be Battlefield with a star wars skin, that'll be epic. DICE is experienced with Battlefield, of course they are going to make it similar. I bet you, your not going to see Jedi and Sith running around, at best its some type of Objective or AI. I've always wanted Battlefront to turn into a modern day FPS game like Battlefield. I'm just happy its not going to be a stale CoD MW with kill streak rewards like predator missle, and airstrike BS. GhostDrone
Battlefront is going to be Battlefield with a star wars skin, that'll be epic.. Not true. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/13/e3-2013-star-wars-battlefront-wont-be-a-battlefield-game "We don't want Star Wars plus Battlefield," said Bach, "because that would be boring, right?" "In general, we wouldn't build a game that is a copy of someone else's game," Bach told IGN. "We couldn't do that. We're too stubborn and too annoying for people to think we could do that." Star Wars: Battlefront is still in the earliest of stages at DICE, so it is still "figuring out what we want to build" while it "looks at the history of the Battlefront franchise to reverse engineer it...to find out what it was supposed to be." YoshiRaphElan
I was thinking, one thing I want to be able to do is pick up a fallen enemy's weapon. This wouldn't have to affect the class system at all, because instead of giving the classes a unique-weapon system, you could use a unique-special ability system. For example, assuming we're going to have destructible environment, here is a situation: A squad of enemies is holed up in the Mos Eisley cantina. Your responsibility is to flush them out and kill 'em. We'll use the Republic as the example here. * The sharpshooter class has a heat-detection scanner and they can tell the infiltration squad how many enemies are inside (kind of like the Halo 4 Promethean vision). * The pilot/engineer class can rig up a breach charge on the main entrance. * The demolitions/heavy trooper class can plant a bomb on one wall, collapsing it when you pull the trigger. * The soldier class and the specialist classes (in this case, the Galactic Marine and Jet Trooper) prepare to go in when the engineer breaches, and the soldier has a flash-grenade (or, since clones are against droids, an EMP grenade). There you go, a perfect way to improve classes, and allow weapon switching at the same time!
