Starship Analysis: Delta 7b Interceptor

Disclaimer: There is not a lot of literature on this fighter so this will be short and sweet.

Ok kids been a while since I have done an analysis of a ship but here we go. By request of Aurbere we have the Delta 7b Athersprite interceptor. The reason this fighter came about was because of a problem with losing the hardwired astromechs in combat. Because of the light hull of the athersprite and low amount of shielding, the Original delta-7 was at high risk for astromech destruction which SEVERELY degraded the ability of the fighter to fly in comat.

To alleviate this problem Kuati Engineering redesigned the fighter and put the astromech center line infront of the cockpit. Furthermore they made it so the astromech was no longer hardwired into the fighter. This allowed Jedi Like Anakin Skywalker to use R2D2 in fighter combat now.

This was well received by the jedi and many flew them in combat including:

Obi-wan Kenobi

Ahsoka Tano

Barriss Offee

Mace Windo

Anakin Skywalker

and so on.

This fighter also flew in many battles during the Clone wars including:

Battle of Ryloth

Battle of Bothawi

Battle of Umbara

Battle of Malastare

Other than the changing of the astromech droid, and the lengthening of the hull slightly to accommodate the astromech, this is the same fighter as the original Delta-7. Infact Saesee Tiin replicated the small hyperdrive into some of the 7bs as well allowing them to go into hyperspace without the hyperspace ring, though the 7b could also interface with hyperspace ring.

It had the same shielding and 4 laser cannon as the original delta-7b. Though the jedi didn't like attachments most of the jedi flew delta 7bs with personalized color schemes including Mace Windu, Obi-wan, and ofcourse Anakin.

All and all it was a decent upgrade from the Delta 7 that made it more versatile.
