TheManAnderson
I have a lvl 32 Powertech and 22 pts to spend after the 2.0 implementation. Is anyone currently playing a shield tech, and if so what are the must haves and nice perks for 2.0 PvP? I realize that this is harder to convey now without an accurate calculator, but I appreciate any suggestions that could help me get a handle on it! ( from what I've seen, it looks promising, but what don't you take now? I had previously been going up to Retractable Blade in AP)
Okod
I can list a few talents I think are good. I'm not sure where we sit with shielding in 2.0, I know it got buffed (to shield all attack types, but still only 2 damage types), but still not sure if it now means the shield chance/absorb talents are worth taking for PvP. So; Combust - 5% damage debuff on attacks you use anyway. Ion Overload - 100% cylinder proc chance with Rocket Punch works with... Neural Overload - 2s snare. Not brilliant, but it helps. Somewhat redundant once you get Firestorm, but you can't reach that yet. Oil Slick - Now rather good. Shield Vents - Extra shield chance is OK, venting heat is handy. No Escape - 2s root on grapple, handy for fire pits, etc. Ion Screen - Flat 2% damage reduction to everything. Jet Charge - Surprise! When you've leveled a bit more; Firestorm - 6s AoE stare. Works well with Flame Surge's free Flame Sweep. Power Armor (AP tree) - Another 2% damage reduction. As for the rest, I'm still working that out myself. Maybe Taugrim and Co will redo their PvP defensive guide with the 2.0 changes! As for calculator, I believe the SWTOR Spy Calculator is now up to date. TheManAnderson
Thanks for the tips! It seems like most people are still just trying to figure it out for themselves, and possibly more now due to the changes in the other trees. And Thanks for linking to the updated calculator!
