Akaavi, Qyzen, SCORPIO, Yun can't use raid tier equipment due to new mod restrictions

Bioware changed it so that barrels coming out of raid-tier weapons have a "Ranged" weapon restriction on them. You can no longer place these barrels into Techstaff or Techblade weapons. So how are we supposed to gear up the weapons of companions that use melee Aim weapons like Qyzen, Akaavi, SCORPIO and others? Edited by Giolon

The mod system is a bunch of broken pieces put together into a bizarre puzzle that doesn't properly achieve any of the stated goals form the pre-launch dev blog.

Its supposed to allow us to stat gear we like so it stays viable, but the vast majority of gear that you get in this game isn't even moddable.

The keep restricting certain mods, like they forgot players have companions. Armor mods don't go into droids, because for some reason they didn't mark the droid slots to be equivalent to the none droid slots. Now barrels (which make total sense in knives and staves!) are restricted to just guns.

I think crafting can still do it, right? Since those are restricted until you put them into an item.

Raid equipment still surpasses crafted equipment - meaning these companions are going to fall behind in performance compared to others that use more standard equipment.

Is raid gear needed in a situation where you're going to be using a companion?

This is half right. Raid equipment is both Arkanian (69) and Underworld (72) gear.

You don't need 72 gear to run raids -- that gear is obtained by DOING raids.

Note that you'll still be able to put 72 armoring, mods and enhancements in your companion. The only thing is you'll have a 69 barrel or a 69 hilt.

Hardly the end of the world, especially when talking about a companion.

/Agree.

Totally not the end of the world by any means. No real need to min/max companion damage output on tanking companions.

But hey OP... if it bugs you /bug report it and maybe they will fix it since the restriction does not actually make all that much sense.
