So on a shield spec vanguard, how often do you actually get to see your colour crystal shooting the enemy? Only just started levelling one so want to know it its really going to matter what colour crystal I decide to get later on.

So on a shield spec vanguard, how often do you actually get to see your colour crystal shooting the enemy? Only just started levelling one so want to know it its really going to matter what colour crystal I decide to get later on.

 

The colour crystal in your Blaster Rifle will determine the colour of your shots, so you will effectilvely see "your colour crystal shooting the enemy" everytime you fire at the enemy. However, grenade/mortar/lightning attacks are not affected by the colour of your colour crystal.

 

The colour crystal in your Shield Generator (when you get a custom one) will have no visual representation. So as long as it has the stats you want, you can use the cheapest one you can find no matter what color it is.

Hammer shot (any time ability) and full auto (channeled ability) are the only abilities that will be colored based on your crystal. Full auto is kind of a filler that isn't used a whole lot on vanguard but obviously you'll be using hammer shot a lot here and there. Course you are also a melee ranged class basically so not like you'll really notice it all that much since you'll usually be right next to whatever you are shooting.

 

There are a couple new rifles that have effects like a "laser pointer" type thing that is colored based on your crystal. Those are kinda cool but nothing as noticeable as lightsabers colors.

Your rotation while tanking will make good use of Hammer Shot, plenty of opportunity to see your crystal. You won't use Full Auto very often while tanking unless you're just wiping up trash.
