ScytheEleven
So I've kept my 4/6/31 build on my PT Pyro, and I experimented around with dropping TD and putting points into Steely Resolve instead. From what I've read, dropping TD should be an increase in overall DPS. But what becomes the rotation? My opener with TD was: Thermal Overide > IM > Explosive Fuel > Railshot > TD > Flame Burst > (Proc) Rail Shot > Explosive Dart > Unload > Rocket Punch > (Proc) Rail Shot When I was messing around without TD, I couldn't seem to get a good rotation going. TheJackalistaken
If this is Pve, then yes you should drop TD for sure. If this is PvP then do not drop TD. In PvP Pyro has the best 3-second burst in the game, and in this game burst is king. It might give you (slightly) bigger numbers at the end but it will at least partially gimp your burst which is bad.
ScytheEleven
Yeah, I really do not PVP a lot...all I do is raid/PVE stuff.
wetslampigduex
the rotation without TD is pretty simple TSO>IM>RS>RP>RS>FB your life away After the opener its honestly FB, fb,fb and then RP on CD and if you hit get over 25-30 heat throw in a rapid shots but it is indeed a dps increase, I also find it easier to manage heat in this build. You shouldn't use RP on CD, it should be used after the 6sec to proc RS since it has a higher chance than FB to proc, but otherwise yeah, i usually open with rapid shots running in, then RS, FB, FB, RP, RS(if proc'd)

Also, if you use a DFA or Flamethrower as a filler, use FB after it instead of RP because RP will not proc the dot and it will wear off just before your rail shot if rp proc the free rail shot. I'd avoid using Flamethrower as a filler esp. is there isnt more than 1 target. It only increases DPS if you crit on every tick. DFA however hits twice a second, on a single taget chances are it's a dps loss(need every hit to crit) but if you have 2 targets it is a dps increase no matter of crit or not. this is a link to a hm KP a ran with some noobs yesterday to get my weekly, the Jarg and Sorno fight, if you look at the Damage Dealt Broken Down by Time and go down and check the flamethrowers and DFA you can see what i mean.I didn't start using the aoe's till around 160 seconds into the fight. http://www.torparse.com/a/87687/11 Edit: Even with 2 targets Flamethrow is a coin flip on the dps. On my phone right now, will check numbers on a dummy tonight. From what I remember, flamethrower is a bit less damage single target than 2 flame bursts, but costs 25 heat vs 32, and DFA is more damage single target than 2 FB, also for 25 heat (BUT, only if you have 20% armor debuff, AND lose no time in placing the reticle)
ScytheEleven
Well, I dropped TD from my PVE build finally. It was in fact a rather fair DPS increase...though I miss it. I found TD to be very, very fun... I'm now in the process of removing a large amount of crit from build. Before, I stacked my crit up to 426 (around 38%) so that TD and Rail Shot would crit more together. Now I'm finding out how pointless that was. One more power/surge enhancement and I'll bring it down to 35% finally, with Surge at 75%.
