kragadox Posted September 14, 2012 Share Posted September 14, 2012 My buddy is a level 36 shield specialist and I'm a hybrid shield and tactics. We PVP a lot and he always has more kills and more damage. What gives? I know he's a higher level but he gets outrageous numbers of kills and damage. I don't get it. I'm probably not as effective of a player as he is but I don't think I'm THAT much worse. Our stats are comparable. I haven't gone too far up the Tactics tree but shouldn't a tank be doing less damage than a hybrid spec? Any suggestions? Thanks! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Chaoskyx Posted September 14, 2012 Share Posted September 14, 2012 Tactics isn't very good until you can pick up both Pulse Generator and Havoc Taining. That's assuming you're running NORS, though. Keypek Posted September 14, 2012 Share Posted September 14, 2012 Wait till you hit 50... shield spec seems almost godly in lowbie pvp since dps in general is a lot less and less focused and tactics is mostly awful until you get close to 40 and beyond. When you hit 50 your friend is in for an unpleasant time until he runs to respec as quickly as possible. And yeah, I'm not a huge fan of hybrids for VG... especially ones that use shield spec beyond getting the 9% aim. But just personal opinion. But just personal opinion. Because every hybrid spec that used Shield was broken by the developers? Or just because they're trying to get a gap closer with Storm and willing to sacrifice everything for it? Guardians and shadows have enough defensive CDs to help compliment using shields to make them fairly durable but VGs just don't have that. I know some use Ion cell in conjunction with tactics for the armor increase which is ok but they still rarely go beyond the 9% aim even if they use ion cell so they are barely hybrids in my mind. But Storm is just to far into shield to make it worth getting because you sacrifice so much damage for it. I used to love my iron fist spec.
