That's probably true. LotRO, DDO and AoC have multiplied their player bases and revenue by adopting the "freemium" model. People still freak out about it because they're stupid.

 

Well they don't have to deal with Lucasarts - I'm pretty sure the license for Star Wars costs more per month than the License for Lotr, D&D and Conan combined. None of these games was under the 500k subs pressure.
