ML_DoubleTap
I currenly have a pretty low PT which will probably be my next project to 50. He'll likely be almost exclusively pvp as my guild is mostly republic so I don't we'll bother with endgame pve in our imp side guild. All that being said I was hoping for a little critique and guidance from the suberb group of PTs here. This is one of my favorite AC class forums to read through as it seems the contributors are all pretty solid and willing to discuss rather than state their opinion as fact. Anyways, I was planning to work toward a Shield Tech/AP hybrid focusing on survivability and utility with a bit of burst. The build I've worked out: http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/skills/powertech#c67e888-173c6ce9e-0 I'd be running with IGS exclusively. I like the slows from IGS and RB and the benefit of Hydraulic Overrides. Damage should be fair between IGS procs, RS crits, RP, RB and FB. The build seems to me like it would be fairly viable, but since I don't know the class well I wanted to open it up to the experts I wasn't sure if some of the sacrifices in Intimidation and Steely Resolve are worth the added utility or not. I get my damge fix from my sentinel, so I kind of like the idea of an annoying, hard to kill toon that pesters the other team like crazy but can still aid in focussing down. ML_DoubleTap
I also struggled with placing 4 pts between Prototype Electro Surge, Hot Iron and Advanced Tools. PES and AT would be more utility I suppose, is HI a very significant overall boost?
mrObtuse
you can actually have a lot more fun with 0/31/10 which gives you the option to defend with ion cyl but deal a lot of damage in combustible the build you're proposing is nearly exactly what i used to use before trying out and switching to (the now defunct) 23/0/18 which was just more fun with the damage tools paired with solid defense. I liked the defensive tools and prototype flame thrower dynamic. the devs have kind of ruined the benefits of splitting points out like this. some of the main main skill points were reduced in power just now. they simply dont understand the playstyle, those of us that want to have some low tier defensive skills and a decent damage capability, willing to give up being to top specialist in either of those areas for extra versatility, durability, and not total worthlessness on contributing to a kill... they just dont get it. i have put in piles of feedback ever since 1.2 PTS where they first revealed the loss of prototype particle accelerator without combustible cylinder...
