I don't understand why people complain about Gunnery being stationary. (PvP)

We literally have a whole DPS tree (Assault Specialist) dedicated to being more mobile.

 

Assault Plastique

Incendiary Rounds

HiB's with a VERY high frequency--even if your Full Auto or Charged Bolt is interrupted it can still trigger the skill.

Hammer Shots

 

Plus defensive perks up the Wazoo for PvP centric play.

So just because Assault tree is more mobile we are simply supposed to break from our usual routine and interest in Gunnery and respec every time we pvp? I am rather confused by your post other than you expect people to enjoy Assault as much, if not more than, Gunnery and should be playing that instead.

No. I'm saying if you want to be mobile in PvP and PvE, choose Assault.

 

If you want to be stationary a lot in PvP and PvE, play Gunnery.

 

And if you expect a tree (anyone's tree) to fundamentally change because you're playing PvP instead of PvE, you need to pull your head out of your bum. : )

1> Charged Bolts has to finish in order to trigger HiB.

 

2> While I agree that Assault is currently way better in terms of overall PVP performance, it doesn't help Gunnery to just say, "Play Assault or pound sand sucka."

 

Gunnery is probably fine on their damage component and ammo management, what they really need is an interruption prevention cooldown and a ranged root on a moderate cooldown (12-15 seconds). The PVE implications of these are minimal and they can be attached to currently existing abilities.

 

It is fine to be immobile if you have the tools that compliment the role.

Well I do not believe the overall complaints and discussion of gunnery is about it being stationary, it is expected to be so it is partly why we play it. The problems revolve around it though, by design lack proper defense for having to stand around to get pommeled. I do like being the turret, being a singular mad power house of destruction (or simply pure dps) however when I am completely unable to dish out my damage that I wanted to well it kind of defeats my purpose. I attempt to avoid complaining but I have never been shy of pointing out flaws and limitations (certainly helps to overcome something when you know what it is).

 

On the side note, I agree changing tree on a regular basis is complete bull but I have seen some people suggest it. I just take issue with the part that I want to be pure dps but lack design so I am almost forced to split roles or play the hybrid approach.

have you played assault?

 

 

don't get me wrong. i love assault (and actually do more dps in pve and pvp than gunnery), but i'm not sure what the point of this thread is.

are you saying that gunnery isn't stationary or that people complaining about it should stop playing it?
