Darth Names

Do any sith have Darth names that are NOT based upon some other word? Maybe Revan or Malak, but even those can be connected to something else. I'm sure all of them have at some point, but it seems like we're running out of latin words.

revan and malak are strange darths as darths normally change there name when they become a darth. veridin being malgus, vader being anakin etc etc

not that that answers your question. just a thought i had while reading your post

Darth names do not have to be linked to Latin words and have hidden meanings.

But they all are so far, because of authors/directors/producers choice.

It just one of things that people using the Star Wars IP seem to all respect.

And Darth name can be recycled, there is another Darth Revan in the new SIth Wars after the Old Republic. (Though GL probably won't let there be another Vader/SIdious).

I assumed from the original Trilogy that Darth Vader was just the character's name and not some form of title. Having a distinguishing title when there can only be two of you to use it is about as redundant as an office Christmas party for a couple of employees!

For a man who dismisses a lot of EU stuff as not being canonical, Lucas really doesn't object to stealing it when he's run out of ideas (which could be classed as anytime after 1983 ;))

Originaly yes it was. You even see obi wan treating vader by only Darth, in the first star wars movie.

Yes... and not once does he call him Anakin. Actually, as the last time Kenobi sees Anakin is on Mustafar, where he leaves him limbless and burning in absolute agony (thanks mate! Wouldn't it have been kinder just to kill him!?), how does he know that Vader is Anakin? Especially as he's taken himself off into hiding on Tatooine. Did the Empire do a Galaxy-wide press release?!?

a padawan and their master are always connected by the force. obi wan knew that anakins force signature was still present. and it wouldn't take to much working out that palpatines new force using dark destroyer, darth vader was anakin.

He knew that Anakin had changed his name to Vader when he turned to the Dark Side. That's how Sidious referred to him in the holorecordings Kenobi watched after the sacking of the Jedi Temple. So even as he left him to seemingly die on Mustafar, he, without a doubt, has heard Vader's name in the next 20-30 years and has figured out that Anakin survived.
