Love that there is an event going on but I think that there should have been a better way to do this. Instead you have set us up to gather and infect ourselves over and over to get DNA... I think something along the lines of us actually trying to combat the plague instead of trying to catch it would have been a better idea. Perhaps flag people that get the plague as pvp enabled for anyone not. For the carebares you could have had a phased fleet option where people could shift over to a non-infected fleet to not have to par take. I have found this pretty fun the dailies are fun to do and Its great to watch everyone puke over everyone then explode!
