...and still can't get a FP group

You do realize it took WoW all the way until almost the end of Wrath of the Lich King to come up with a LFG tool right? .

I recall in vanilla WoW (sometime pre Burning Crusade) there was LFG functionality. Also had those stone thingies to help summon players to an instance.

Guess it more shocking that being able to marry my other female toons had priority

They were working on Legacy system long before people whined about a group finder. Legacy was scheduled to be in on launch a group finder was not originally planned.

Not really a surprise at all if one uses logic or does any sort of research.

In vanila they had a LFG channel and a tick box type thing to say you were looking for blah kill blah quest.

what these loverly people are on about is the LFG tool that was introduced with wrath that was cross server/cross battle group.

the thing in vanila was NOT cross server/cross battle groups. The only way blizz could impliment the system was to merge battle groups in to there own small server farms, such was the birth of the cross server LFG tool that most people spend many hours drooling over

That's because WoW put a tool in place to allow this. BW hasn't made this a priority, thus you have "times of the day" when you can do all of the content, and other "times of the day" when you can't (heavily dependent on your server, of course). For some, there is no "time of day" when you can do the content, because there aren't enough players to do it.

I would add that, irrelevant to time of day, a major hurdle to forming groups in ToR is there is a substantial percent of any given server's population spread throughout numerous planets and zones. Without a common methodology to connect those players (universal chat channel, dungeon finder, etc.) people looking for a group simply don't have access to a larger pool of other players to potentially group with. If you want a group you are forced to sit idle in fleet until you can find one.

It's an extremely poor game design, and honestly an embarrassment IMO on Bioware's part for not addressing quickly post launch. The easier you make it to pair people up to experience the game's content, the more incentive you give them to continue to log in and pay $15/month. Right now ToR pretty much has the least user friendly methodology of pairing people for content in any MMO released in the past 5+ years. Releasing a MMO in today's day and age without a dungeon finder UI is akin to releasing your MMO without a chat window.

Greetings,

We understand that a dungeon finder tool is one of the top player-requested features for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. This feature was not slated for Game Update 1.2, but it is currently being worked on by the development team.

You may want to join the conversation about dungeon finders here:

You may also be interested in what Lead Game Designer Daniel Erickson had to say on the subject in one of our Weekly Q&As:

deusBAAL: Will you be providing a LFG tool? What will be its features? How will it be intended to work and when can we expect it to go live?

Daniel Erickson (Lead Writer): We are hard at work on a much more robust LFG functionality that will quickly help put groups together while still offering the flexibility to decide how you group and what sort of people you want to be grouped with. We’ll release more details as we get closer to release

We hope this sheds some light on the issue. Thank you for your feedback!
