I been buying the DVDs and CD version of my software. last time I moved I lost my mass effect 2 game. someone was telling me to just go with digital. my question is.

Is digital better than CD/dvds and if so should I go with steam or origin?

okay, thanks.

now going to do some research someone was saying mass effect might not be on steam which sucks if I rebuy mass effect one and two in steam.

IIRC, no future EA game will be on steam, including ME3. It's all Origins exclusive from here on in.

If the boxed game also allows you to do digital downloads (e.g. Blizzard games and most other games really) then I'd definitely go with the boxed game - you get a tangible memorabilia.
