Oakleif Posted January 27, 2012 Share Posted January 27, 2012 I was originally paired with a Jedi Shadow, and going for a shield spec to complement her abilities. She's decided she's not so fond of that character, so I'm cut a bit adrift and going more solo now. At level 26 I have points in Shield Specialist: Intimidation (3), Brutal Impact (2), Ion Overload (2), Steely Resolve (3), Rebraced Armor (2), Ceramic Plating (1) Tactics: Demolition (2) Assault Specialist: Heavy Stock (2) What I'm wondering is if shield spec is really only useful in groups and I should be looking at switching to Tactics and/or Assault Spec to solo, or if soloing as a Shield Spec is still a viable way to go. Treefinger Posted January 27, 2012 Share Posted January 27, 2012 I've used full shield spec from lvl 10 to my (now lvl 47), using both Elara and the cat dude (Jorgan). It's fully viable for solo and with Elara I jump between groups of mobs without downtime using storm, mortar volley and/or sticky grenade. With Jorgan, the mobs die faster, but I need some downtime to recoup before charging again. As such, I prefer keeping Elara as company as I never need to stop and think :-) Vanguard shield spec is much recommended for soloing, and much fun.
