Seran
I bought some unlock-able missions from the market (Treasure Hunting and Archaeology) and figured great these are much better return then the given missions but once used they disappear from the mission selection never to return. Is this by design or a bug? Thanks in advance!
RyderrUK
You get to scribe them, then do them, then they go, and you can buy them again if you want to do them again. The rate of materials they give comapred to the standard missions is way high, so if they stayed everything would soon be out of kilter.

Completely random or on Ops/FP's, planets, etc...?
Aerithel
Great thanks, do you or anyone know where these drop? Completely random or on Ops/FP's, planets, etc...? You get a chance of finding Missions Discoveries through the Slicing crew skill. I believe this is the only "reliable" source. Vertibirdo
investigation and diplomacy are known to bring mission discoveries sometimes, though it is quite rare. Slicing is the best bet.
