Shield Rating (and therefore Absorb Rating, since you need to proc a shield first in order to absorb anything) and Defence Rating do not work on Tech/Force attacks and will only work against attacks listed as doing 'Weapon Damage'. To put that in perspective, the only classes that primarily deal weapon damage are Marksmen specced Snipers, Juggs and Maras who aren't speccing Rage for some reason and Assassins. Sorcs attacks are entirely Force based, Mercs are primarily Tech based (ie Tracer Missile spam - which also debuffs our armour...) and Operatives have a healthy mix of internal damage and kinetic attacks as well as significant armour bypasses. All those classes almost completely bypass Shield rating and Defence rating. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
