I'm currently level 12 and know that I can not use charged bolts if I use a blaster rifle, but I am not liking the the assault cannon at all. Thanks. There's no minimum range (expect for one aoe) so you can still shoot them at point blank range. You can use rifles as a commando if you plan on healing. As gunnery you lose a lot of damage with one instead of a cannon, though its possible since you won't need charged bolts. Assault relys on charged bolt so that's a even bigger lost.
