However, once you get talents like Automated Defenses (pyro), or Terminal Velocity (arsenal), crit really starts to shine. The Bodyguard tree doesn't gain any extra heat with crit, but both bodyguard and pyro get a fair boost to your crit multiplier (which isn't affected by diminishing returns like +surge would be).
