I think such a forum would sadly turn out to be another flaming ground (as oposed to this one??). Personally I'm very disapointed with the space combat -- it should be an arcade game in the cantinas. If space was designed as both a means to travel and fight where you had full control of your ship and could do more interesting things than fire lasers and missiles then it would be interesting.
On the other hand, I'm one of those that long for the good old X-Wing and Tie-Fighter games. If we had something like that with full PvP and cooporative group or even guild missions, that would be fantastic.
I'm dreaming, I know, and maybe people are just happy with this shooter on rails, but I find it very underwheming and just a means to some quick XP.
I see where you're coming from, I loved the space game in SWG especially, one of the things they did right in that game. I like this a lot too though because it feels more like Star Wars despite the fact you aren't free as far as speed and direction go. I think the areas for space are absolutely stunning looking, and the guided travel makes it feel really good.

How much time would it take BW to make a forum for space anyways? Even if it isn't overly popular? I absolutely love it and would like to be able to talk about it without my thread falling off the page in 40 seconds.

How come there isn't a space forum? I personally love the space aspect of the game, it may even be my favorite part so far, and think there should be somewhere to discuss it.
