  1. Every single boss in this game has been cleared for some time now on nightmare mode without a combat log. So, the question is, if all the content can be cleared on nightmare mode without a combat log, why do we need one?

Again, I shouldn't have even mentioned raid content in the OP because my concern actually pertains to PVP.

But that said, you really never have something happen that you wish you could scroll back and see the details? I have things like that happen several times a day.

  2. I can't even begin to count all the times I've seen issues with broken talents or skills come to light because some people meticulously track their combat logs and realize something is amiss. Just because people are "completing content" doesn't mean the lack of an industry-standard feature is acceptable. Bioware made a huge stink about meeting certain expectations for this genre, and then failed to live up to their own benchmark. Players are right to call them out on the carpet over it.

It wouldn't surprise me if people uncovering issues (issues they most likely know about) is the primary reason we have no combat log.

I mean, with 4 different attack types (weapon, ranged, tech, force) and on top of that 5 different damage types (internal, kinetic, elemental, weapon, energy) and throw in armor and defense / mitigation effecting the various combinations differently... I'm sure there is plenty they want to ignore for the time being.

  3. I can understand that people want them, although people are completeing content without them. <let that sink in for a minute> They fixed that search function in this forum and you can do a simple search for the last comment made by a dev. Wish we didn't have to have another thread on this subject. It just turns into a flame war. Oh and btw 'people are completeing content without combat logs' But to each his/her own I guess:rolleyes:

People completing content is really only relevant for, as I said in the OP, an indication of the complexity of the encounters. I probably could have omitted the jab at raid difficulty cause it only seemed to cloud the point which is:

I find it hard to believe I'm in the minority when it comes to people wanting to actually be able to see what happens during combat and use that information to make decisions / improve.

  4. I can't believe that having no combat log isn't the source of more uproar.

Bioware has copied the theme park mmo formula i.e. tab targeting, global cool-down for abilities, gear based character progression, talent tree based character specialization, etc. but then fails to include a basic necessity for anyone that actually might care about what is going on during combat.

You can also say it's revealing about the complexity of the raid content (and flashpoints for that matter) when the fights are so straight forward that there's never a need to take a moment and consult the combat log to figure out what went wrong and figure out how to approach it.

And just so there are no misunderstandings-- I like the game for the most part... I enjoy playing it, I am paying to play it after all. I just suppose I'm surprised how often I see it brought up, I'd have thought more people would care and want to see it addressed in plain, direct statements as to why it isn't there and when we could expect to see it.
