  1. @Kieth

No offense Keith but what should we believe at this point. Seems like the only thing you guys have been consistent at is not delivering.

Road maps set for every 90 days. Then it's well we do roadmaps quarterly so it can fall at any point in a quarter. Which if I'm not mistaken if the last road map was issued on the first month of the quarter then you have 5 months before you feel obligated to give us another roadmap.

You tell us last year that we will receive one operation of 5 bosses with three difficulty settings. You delivered 3 bosses this year with only 2 difficulty settings and then wait till the 4th boss is out to break the news to the little NiM community left that they don't get theirs.

Do you feel any responsibility for that @Kieth. The fact that people spent their hard earned money all year long on something you promised but didn't deliver.

You make statements like you prefer to give roll out smaller content drops because that avoids long wait times. But in reality we just have long wait times with little content to show for it.

@Keith @Eric you still can't lock down a date for when season 9 ends? BIOWARE has been doing swtor for 6 years now and you guys still can't tell us when a season starts. When it will end. Or what type of rewards will be given untill near the very end if not till after the season is ended. How is this acceptable? How do you guys sit in meetings and decide this way is a good way to do gaming?

@BIOWARE more effort is needed on your part to provide what you promise. My 15 bucks is legit every month. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for miss leading your community once again.

    2nd'ed.

  2. Luckily it's still not decided. Hopefully after Anthem is released we can get some resources back in this game if it's still up and running. That may be why we see the good Cartel Market sales on high demand items so the devs can show a positive cash flow even in times of content drought.

Anthem doesn't release until 2019 now. Are you saying you are ok with waiting over a year for more content?

I honestly think EA should put The Old Republic out of it's misery and just pull the plug.

  3. Not going to lie - I was really expecting a delay for "EA Sign-off" on this road map.

I swear your marketing people have no balls. They need to publish a LOT more information if you have any chance of turning this game around.

Your First sentence, that is exactly what he is saying. He has to get his letter approved by the powers that be, the first drafts weren't so now he has to make changes and tweaks.

There isn't a chance to turn this game around anymore, that opportunity passed them as soon as Ben Irving decided that there would be no new Ops with KotFE and KotET. An MMO cannot survive this long with out sizable chunks of multiplayer PvE content produced on a regular basis. SWTOR is going to limp along until Visceral launches the next big Star Wars Multiplayer game.

  4. I complain a lot, but I give credit where credit is due, this is probably the most honest and open communication we have seen from the Dev team in a very long time.

Kudos's to you Keith and keep the communication coming. It's a welcome change to the way things were in the past.

  5. Roadmaps applied as a static document are not very reliable and very often reality will not reflect such a static document.

And worthless PR documents around here are quickly burned and pissed on by the masses.

Based on what they have done in the past with respect to roadmaps... I predict this one too will be essentially worthless.

I was just asking what time period it would cover, I didn't comment on it's worth/value. I'm simply asking what timeline we should expect it to cover. With each passing day this road map potentially covers a shorter and shorter period of time.

Honestly we have been waiting a long time for this road map and I am starting to believe that Keith is trying to find a way to get people excited to spend money while trying not to let on that the game will be shutting down in the near future.

I'm sure he has to submit his message for approval and the document is stuck in the red tape process before BW/EA will allow it to be published. I mean PR is a real b!**h with a successful product, I'm sure PR in the case of SWTOR these days is a total nightmare!

At this point I would prefer honesty, not more of BW blowing smoke up my posterior...

  6. Some people cannot do simple math, it seems.

It is more accurate to say that you are unable to understand that I am asking if his road map will only be taking us through Calendar year 2017, or will he be giving us a 12 month road map that leads into next June.

A road map that lays out the plans for now through the end of April 2018 would actually map out their plans for their fiscal/funding year (May 1st - April 30th of each year) and would make a lot of sense. Seeing as how the SWTOR team should have just gotten their new annual budget on the first of May creating a 12 month road map with this month being the starting point would give them the ability to align the road map to studio plans, player expectations and the start of their new fiscal budget.

Apparently some people are incapable of either engaging their brain or thinking outside the box...

  7. I have this issue on my desktop, completed all the suggested steps, now the game opens to a 800X600 resolution and is stuck at the load screen for over 10 min now.

I don't use creator, I use Windows 10 Enterprise. I don't have "Game Mode" so there is nothing to disable there.

Looks like I'll just go back to ESO until there is a patch to fix the game.

  8. The population of a server is, surprisingly enough, often a subjective judgement.

If you love PVP but most of your server is into RP, it's going to feel like an empty wasteland.

If each of the servers had a listed specialty and everyone was given a week of free transfers to move to a server that matches their playstyle, I think everyone would find their server sufficiently populated.

Those who like the feel of a low-pop server could move to one that doesn't cater to their style of play.

One of the key differences is this.

With server transfers you move your toon and find a guild (or not) if that is your choosing. If your entire guild moves you form a new guild on the new server and you have to redo everything.

With server mergers your current guild bank ship and the condition of all the above get moved to the new server as well.

People who are in guilds that they are dedicated to and happy with want the server mergers to happen so they don't have to repurchase a guild ship and 6 Guild Bank tabs then do all the work it takes to max out and redecorate their guild ship.

Are server transfers nice? Yes, for individuals.

A merger is better for whole guilds looking to move.

  9. Hey folks,

Later today we are going to be adding the first ever Platinum rarity item to the Cartel Market for direct sale, the Unstable Arbiter’s Lightsaber. The single-handed saber is going to be on sale from today, Tuesday 3/7 through next Tuesday 3/14 at the price of 7,600 Cartel Coins.

Why the price of 7,600 Cartel Coins?

It’s a lot of Cartel Coins, but this sale is directed at those players who have the resources to acquire the item. The price is set higher than current Hypercrates and previous Gold rarity items to help maintain the rarity of the Unstable Saber. We may discover that direct selling Platinum items erodes their value, and that will have an impact on how we handle these sales in the future. Basically, this is a test and we wanted you to be aware of what we are doing and why.

The net result for us is we want to see if this is something our players have interest in. While ensuring it doesn’t undermine the value for players who already have one and see how receptive everyone will be to us continuing to rotate other Platinum items into the Cartel Market in the future. More than likely, we would not direct sale Platinum items until they’ve been unavailable from Cartel Packs for a number of months. This will also help maintain their rarity for a fairly long time.

    Thanks everyone.

    -eric

It's a whale sale, directed at players willing to pay $60 of real world money for an ingame item.

Cartel market sales must be having an issue...

  10. Ill be honest, I've not logged into the game since beginning of Janurary, even after 5 years of logging in almost daily, I have no reason to log in anymore. What would bring me back is replayable class story (instead of creating a new character), minigames like pazaak and a new raid or two.

Id even log back into the game if we were told the game is shutting down, just for old times sake.

    Honestly, at this point, little.

I too would log more frequently in the next few months if they said it was shutting down sometime in the next 18 months.

I still raid 2x a week, but that is about all I do. After 5 years, leveling every class, watching every story and running every scrap of content I would need a HUGE expansion.

Thing is I would even be willing to pay $30-$50 bucks for it if it were chock full of new class stories, new main story, a new planet, new flashpoints, a couple new Ops maybe even a new class and mini games like Pazzak etc.

It would take a lot to drag me away from ESO now. They are releasing a HUGE expansion in June and have teased much more to come in the fall and winter months.

SWTOR is offering to let us pay a monthly subscription to grind through the same old content while they slowly push out one boss at a time until their entire 5 boss Op is done at the end of the year...

My Give a *flip* meter is on empty with SWTOR and it would take a lot to fill it back up at this point.

  11. Hey folks,

If you haven’t read it yet, we recommend you head over to the “Tier 4 in Game Update 5.2” thread and learn about the new Tier of gear coming next Update. Along with the new Tier of gear, we are making quite a few changes to what gear drops in Operations. For endgame PvE players we know there is a desire to gear primarily through Operations.

For existing Operations (Tier 1 will no longer drop in Operations)

    • Tier 2 Legendary Gear - Story Mode
    • Tier 3 Legendary Gear – Veteran Mode
    • Tier 4 Prototype and Artifact Gear – Master Mode (Non-final bosses)
    • Tier 4 Legendary Gear – Master Mode (Final bosses)

For Gods from the Machine Operations:

    • Tier 3 – Story Mode
    • Tier 4 – Veteran Mode

As you can see there a lot of changes with Operation gear drops in 5.2! Let us know your thoughts on these changes.

    -eric

Does a player have to be Command Rank 300 (or what ever rank it is that drops tiers 2 and 3) to receive or cash in the token or can a CR 60 toon run HM S&V and get the Tier 3 gloves from Titan 6?

  12. So this thread has gone from, "thanks for giving us our loot drops back... 2 months from now..." To, "gearing is still gonna be too easy because all we gotta do is farm EV and KP 8 times and we have everything we need." Or the other side of that comment where folks are saying, "it ain't' about gear being to easy to obtain, it's about no new content.

    It's all of it really.

Yes, Thank you BW for putting Boss loot drops and tables back in the game, they should have never been removed in the first place and 5.2 is what you should have released with 5.0. If you had your, "2017 is the year of Group Content!" Would be off to a better start.

It wasn't really broke, why did you bother trying to fix it? I mean highlighted hard modes NEEDED to go away, that just made the whole gearing thing WAY too easy, seriously. But to remove loot drops from bosses completely? Dumb, dumb, dumb...

Seriously this isn't a revolutionary change, you are just returning to a system that has worked since the dawn of video games, (Kill boss, get loot. Kill next boss get more loot, so on and so forth until you have all the loots). Once Boss loot and loot table are reinstated we will be back to the same problem we had this time last year. The vast majority of our group content is super old...

Yes, They are working on it, I know.

This is a good step, but unless they get their heads out of the sand and get some great, massively replayable group content out FAST I'm afraid the ship will continue to sink.

This decision closed the floodgates I'm sure, but the hull is still leaking and I'm not sure you have enough cork.

  13. Eric, today's posts are EXCEPTIONAL and VERY VERY welcomed...so THANK YOU!!! The plan for 5.2 is nearly perfect imo...well done!!!

But...we still have a bit of a gearing issue with PvP. Is there any chance that may get resolved in 5.2 as well, like more components?

This comment is, as TUX's comments usually are, an example of why these forums need a like button.

    You are absolutely right!

  14. ITS OFFICIAL: Delete your alts now, you'll never even reach max level on one character, so you'll never play any other characters..

Honestly you are better off to unsub and go spend your money on something else.

I just unsubbed and spent my next 6 month sub fee on a steam link so that I can play my favorite steam games on my new 60 inch 4K tv.

A much better use of my time Ima thinking.

  15. Dear Mr. Musco,

Given the Stream Dream Team's comments about Galactic Command, Command Experience and 5.0 in general I understand that Ben Irving has a vision and this vision is related to the metrics that you all refer to, but do not publish. So lets talk about your metrics for a moment.

I'm sure your metrics are showing you that people are playing through GC, gaining CXP, repeating old content over and over and over again. I'm sue that when you look at the raw metrics related to the Command system it paints a beautiful picture, of course it does because that is the available system, that is what you have given us and no matter if we like it or hate it we are going to play it, at least some of us will.

    Why?

Because we truely love Star Wars and SWTOR is the only Star Wars RPG available to us right now.

Notice I didn't say MMORPG. That is because there aren't enough people on most servers to call this game Massive, you spent 2 years with a tunnel visioned focus on single player content and making the game more alt an single player friendly. This summer you ran an event that many in the community didn't like, but played anyway because it was better than running the same tired old dailies over and over.

I wonder, do you have a metric to show how many times players "space-bared" through cut scenes and how many toons were leveled through heroic missions and dailies only?

Do you know how many characters created this summer made it past chapter 1? I know of at least 48 characters (me and my guild mates that finished DvL)

However I bet the base metrics show that people liked DvL.

I would like to see your metrics on Sub #'s over the past 32 months as compared to players playing teh content you have released. I would like to see this broken down by account and not by character.

I would liek to see your comparisons on Content releases and subscriber numbers. Your metrics on player satisfaction based on number of people paying a monthly subscriptions and playing content other than the CXP grind.

I would like to know if you all are excited about what you are seeing, if the player feed back makes you feel good about the direction your game is taking and if you think that players appreciate, truly appreciate how things are going in SWTOR these days.

Mr. Musco, I have to be honest, I noticed that, right after Mr. Irving took over SWTOR started this spiral into what we see now.

I understand that you all wanna milk this cash cow as long as you can, but seriously dude. At this point you are just abusing the poor folks who haven't unsubbed yet. That doesn't include me anymore. I unsubbed Sunday night.

  16. Just after Rise of the Hutt Cartel released many folks felt that BW would and should make the Hutt Cartel a 3rd faction. It actually started to look like that might happen at one point, but it never came to pass.

Many players felt that the Revenites would become a playable faction during the Forged Alliances and SHadows of Revan days. Again, it didn't happen.

Right now the game is actually primed to make "The Alliance" a 3rd faction. I'm just not sure that BW has the creative minds to be able to pull off a 3rd faction. If they did it would have to be a "start at KotFE and level 60" faction, but that begs the question, "would it be successful?"

  17. The "need" to replay something really depends on the person. I never liked Denova or the Rakghoulstuff, while Ziost is one of my favorite planets. But all that doesn't really come down to the devs, it is more a problem with writing the story behind the game. You can't please everyone with what you do.

    Agreed.

Although I believe that many can agree that most of what we have gotten in 4.0 and 5.0 has a rather low replay value.
